🏈 Maze and Barron are likely to return

He brings with him game experience. That was something that alot of our guys lacked in the secondary. Didn't call him All-American but he was solid without a doubt! Now with that said, he might not even be around next year so who knows. If he is back, he adds alot of experience and will help the younger guys as well.

What Robby Green brings to the defensive backfield is DEPTH which is VERY important with all the spread offenses popping up in the SEC. Nick Saban said during halftime of the Championship Game that Oregon should have been playing more nickel against Auburn. You need to have seven or eight good defensive backs to play that much nickel or you end up in a situation like we were in against Auburn where we had to play an injured Mark Barron because we were running out of DBs.
If we start next season with a HEALTHY rotation of Barron, Lester, Lowery, Green, Kirkpatrick, Milliner, and Menzie it will be difficult for anyone to run the spread against us because we have plenty of bodies in there to give guys a breather.

Don't forget Phelon Jones and John Fulton on the corners, and Nick Perry and Jarrick Williams at safety. all these guys will have a year more experience.

I would imagine we'll prolly never even hear anything official from the school if they stay, Saturday will just come and go which will tell us that they're staying.

Like has been said if Barron stays and Green is able to get back in Coach Saban's good graces that Defense will be a damn monster. The secondary good very well go from our weakness to one of our strengths on the team. I saw the comment about Green not being an "All American". That may be true but 2009 was really the first time he got any playing time on Defense and he did his job all year. He's also a ball hawk. Barron, Lester, & Green is a mean rotation of Safeties back there.

I'm shocked. I believe his draft projection came back around the 5th round and he won't be able to participate in the combine to improve that. I hope he made this decision on his own. If an agent advised him that this was in his best interest financially that really sucks.

I didn't realize Barron was injured until after the game. Why not let a younger guy step up if he was hurt that bad?

A one-armed Barron was as good or better than anything else we had.

It had a lot to do with knowledge of the defense. The youth hurt us in that aspect a lot this year and Barron knew the defense probablly better than anyone. Not sure how well known it is that Nick Perry and two other DB's had shoulder surgery the week after the bowl game. These injuries contributed to the limited playing time for Nick as well as the performance of the other two.
