šŸˆ Manziel being investigated by NCAA

Smart move.

And I've seen folks compare the 2 investigations (or whatever you want to call it), but there are some differences. auburn's was pretty well thought out, planned in advance. It was set up from the start to never be able to be proven. This Manziel autograph thing doesn't seem to be that way. Looks like he was just approached one evening at an airport and things quickly unfolded. I mean he sat there and let a dude take a photo of him signing stuff? And for anyone giving him the benefit of the doubt, would any of you sit down and sign 1000 pieces of anything while taking time away from a trip to Miami, FL without compensation?

One of the things that sounds like could lead to his downfall is this "Uncle Nate" character. First the guy sounds like a scumbag (and reading/lookin at his twitter/instagram he is most certainly a douchebag at the very least) but now a broker has come out and the guy (who is Manziel's "personal assistant" or something to that affect) told the broker that Manziel would no longer be signing anything for him WITHOUT compensation in the future.

The thing you guys seem to be missing is, the NCAA closed that loophole that allowed $cam to smile, lie, and be arrogant as Hell. The $cam Newton rule will be what gets this little smug turd. The words and actions of his flunky buddy, will be what buries Johnny Foosball.

Joe Shad reporting right now that a broker approached him and said that he paid Manziel $7,500 for autographs and then showed Shad video of Manziel and the broker discussing the money. Manziel is heard on the video saying "you've never done business with me" when the broker felt the price was steep. The broker tried to sell the video to ESPN but ESPN refused to do so (pretty sure buying things like that is against their rules). Not only all that but in the video Manziel tells the broker that if he tells anyone about this he will never deal with him again and that if anyone asks him all the autographs being out there he'll just say he signed a bunch. One of the brokers asked him on the video if he would make special inscriptions for additional cash but Manziel said that doing that before led to too many questions so he cant do that.

NCAA need a video? All they have to do is call NSA and have them send a copy.

Those are good question that I have no answer for. It just seems to me that one athlete being able to do something and another isn't is a bit ridiculous.

So let me get this straight, ESPN wouldn't pay for the brokers video, under $10k. Seems strange to me.

This is just another reason I despise ESPN's slandering (they call it news/reporting).

I've no issue with ESPN not paying for the tape. They don't have to be "first with video," and the point Schad has seen the video is good enough for me to believe it exists. He carries a little more "cred" than say...Scott Moore claiming to have heard a tape.

Slandering? This I don't get.

How is this story related to slander, Matt?

Should circumstantial evidence be enough to warrant sanctions? In most cases I'd say no. But my god, it defies logic to even think he didn't know what was going on when he walked into a room with hundreds of items laid out to be signed. And, based on what people have said they heard him say on the video?

I'm not a fan of using terms like Viles, $cam, etc. But, in the back of my mind, he'll forever be remembered as Johnny Autograph.

This entire story is Manti Teo strange. This broker obviously thought this out with the intent to cash in on the story down the road. Why else video the session and agree to talk to ESPN but claim he will not speak to the NCAA? Surely he realizes that his credibility is shot after this right? Is any player going to deal with this guy after this? And as for Johnny arrogance, watching his life is like watching a train wreck about to happen. He acts like one of those people that wants their own reality show with no worry of the consequences to those around him, or maybe he is just a spoiled, rich kid.

Where there is smoke, you will find some fire so you have to believe there is some truth in this but I have the feeling that it is only going to get weirder down the road.

On the other hand...

Video does go to authenticity.

If he turns the video over to the NCAA, and Johnny is suspended, how much of that alleged $7500 he spent will he recoup?

Considering the track record of the NCAA, would you be readily willing to cooperate with them in any investigative manner? I can't say I would.

On a different note:

Am I the only one curious to see how Manziel scores on the Wonderlic?
