🏈 🔎 Looking ahead to this weekend: Missouri. (Jefferson, Hubbard, Ty, and Formby interviews.)

Drink was talking about his defense today and how they were facing a different monster this weekend. True. He mentioned his defense had done well so far. Also true.

So, as I'm looking around FEI numbers ... if my math is correct (and seeing this, don't know where my glasses are...)

When their opponents have reached their own 40 yard line they've had successful drives just under seven of ten times on average. Successful drives? A drive that ends in a TD or FG attempt.

On the flip side, when Bama reaches its own 40 they are having successful drives over three quarters of the time. If they reach the opponents 40 they are having success just under nine of ten times.

Conversely, Mizzou so far this season? If you reach their 40 you're getting a FG attempt or TD.

Their success has been predicated on early stops deep in ones own territory.

A squeaker... Their offense is really good... Some say "well they ain't play anybody".. which means they are healthier team wide.. and had a lot more high speed practice to fine tune their game... especially on offense..

Some say? Who are these people? What basis do they have to say such preposterous things?

I meant to mention this yesterday and forgot until I saw a post in this thread. Ryan is still listed on the availability list released yesterday. It's a muscle strain if you happened to wonder if it was the helmet contact. It's not the contusions on his sternum either.

We have a lot more key injuries than Mizzo does on the defense..and their offense is on all cylinders..Their defense may not be a good as Vandy or UGA but I see an offensive shoot out... could be the last one with the ball in this one...We still have a huge problem looking down our noses at so called "inferior teams" ... NOT GOOD...Some "voices " are saying we should blow them out... now that's preposterous!

I was gonna ignore this one, but this one I gotta chime in.

1. "We have a lot more key injuries than Mizzo does on the defense" My response: So? IMO, The players that's stepping up in their absence has been killing it in the last two games. Jefferson is that dude. He's fast and he's running to the ball. This isn't any knock toward LBs who's injured, but the way we've adjusted on the defense, moving people around, actually helped the defense a lot.

2. "Their defense may not be a good as Vandy or UGA but I see an offensive shoot out... could be the last one with the ball in this one.." How are you going to say it's going to be an offensive shootout when It's a running team? MIzzou doesn't exactly have a great QB.. To me, he's a game manager. Beau has 9 TDs ... but where did the 9 touchdowns come from? 6 of them were in redzone. It's simple. Keep Mizzou in 3rd down and 5 or more, and their chance of converting drops significantly. I don't see this as a shootout. I think Game will be close for a quarter or two before pulling away.

3. "We still have a huge problem looking down our noses at so called "inferior teams" ... NOT GOOD..." <- I doubt it. I really doubt it. Everything we've heard this week... is similar to the last two games. They're focused. They're not taking this for granted. The coaches, fans are saying same thing for the most part; Who are Mizzou? what kind of team Mizzou is and they'll find on Saturday. Listen to this:

At the end of the day, Nobody is saying anything about taking Mizzou not serious and I think we all are on same page wondering Are they underrated team? Overrated team? Are they good? or they're the victim of an easy schedule. Nobody will know until this Saturday and upcoming games.

I have a problem with this "we" thing. Although, I have been looking down at inferior teams; Missouri's schedule. Coincidentally, that's what I've pointed to this week.

I HATE maths. But, I'm very statistically and analytically inclined when it comes to looking at opponents. I love advanced metrics when it comes to this game.

When we look at Missouri we see a lot of good offensive numbers. Those numbers are raw. When they are adjusted based on the teams they've played those rankings take a dive: it ain't the shallow end.

I expect a comfortable win just as I expect people to be shitting bricks when they see Missouri run a few scripted series to start the game.

@OldPlayer and you claim to be an editor.

and their offense is on all cylinders

It's a one stroke engine to date: outside zone running game. Cylinder.
