🏈 🔎 Looking ahead to Georgia. Neither team is the same as they were a matter of week ago.

Forgive me if I have this wrong, but haven't you stated on here before that you don't watch games not involving Bama?
I watch some but not in detail like I do Bama.... I ceratinly do not watch the Barn or Viles.... I assume you are asking with your point here if not Bama then who and I would know know if I do not watch other teams.. Again I am measuring to what I see Bama doing not what others are doing. I hate having to limp in. That should not be the Bama way and it falls far short of what is required to be at the top of college football. As Bama fans we know what that looks like and we are nowhere close.

Now that we are in I hope they flip the switch and light everyone up but if that happens it will be the biggest turn around in the history of sports. I would love nothing more than for that to happen. I am not hoping Bama fails...

If any 3 losses disqualify a team then you're just in favor of playing a weak schedule. We will never know but how many losses would OSU, oregon, Texas Tech, etc have if they played Bama's schedule? I'd bet dollars to doughnuts their record wouldn't be what it is now, same if Bama played their schedule. If losses are the only criteria the sec should have a 3 sec game schedule and only play directional schools the rest of the games. SOS has to matter more than losses imo or you've just watered down football even more. Same with letting jmu in, it's crap. If you want to be selected you should have to play a comparable schedule.
I am advocating just the opposite. Be so elite that it does not matter. Do not lower the the quality of the opponent to fake a record but be good enough to win anyway. You know like we used to be and how Oats does.

Things have changed a bit in college football, getting harder to do now. Unless you play a soft schedule that is.

Oats loses to some good teams too. That's my point if you play a tough schedule it's a lot more likely to happen than if you play an Oregon, Indiana, ND, etc schedule so you can't base the selection on a set number of losses. SOS should be the top criteria.

Mando, you need to pony up to the collective so we can get the talent to do what you are expecting. This type of dominance comes with a price and fans have to pay that price. No longer can we just sit on the sideline and complain and hope, we can do something about it. Put our money where our mouth is. As we say at work, hope is not a strategy. If someone complains that we aren’t winning, they can contribute to get better talent to help that. Players aren’t going to come just because it is Alabama. Would you? If you’re 18 and your family lives paycheck to paycheck, you’re likely going to school where you get the most lucrative offer. Right?

Yeah I hate NIL and portal.... With that said so you think the top 4 teams are all paying more money than Bama, have weaker schedules, both or something else? Is UGA paying more than Bama? I do know that UGA improved at least 21 points better than Bama with the results from game one to game two. Is it coaching, players, player development, bad luck with injuries or combination of all of those...

It is frustrating to see what they can be mid season to what they have become at the end of the season two years in a row.

Here is hoping getting players healthy before OU game snaps them back to mid season form... Mid Season Bama can play with anyone.

You're just holding Bama to a standard that I think is impossible to sustain. And you (likely) don't watch enough other games/tems to have a good enough idea of how they measure up... and I'm mot knocking that, I really don't blame you. I may get to that point soon myself. But if you're not seeing enough of the other teams, you're not seeing their warts either. No, Bama isn't one of the best 4 teams this season, and if it was still a 4 team playoff (which I would support), they'd be deservingly left out. But they are, IMO, one of the best 12... even one of the best 8 (possibly) based on resume. They came out flat yesterday and got manhandled. It wasn't pretty. It was disappointing and hard to watch. But history has shown that it has happened before, under Saban, and they responded. They've also had to reverse happen, like when UGA lost in the SECCG but beat UA in Indy.

And I've said this before, but starting next year with the 9 games, the uphill battle gets even steeper. At some point, you're going to have to readjust what your expectations are or you're just going to end up disappointed. It's a new era. And I'm not taking about DeBoer (who whoever the next coach will eventually be).

I don’t have much info on what teams are paying for their rosters, but I know a number of the teams ahead of us spend more than we do. Here is something On3 put out just before the season. I’ve read somewhere that Georgia has spent more as well, but I can’t remember where I saw that. But you have to spend to get the kids to come. Our name isn’t going to be enough. Even Saban’s name was not going to be enough. Money talks! And you see a lot of QB’s at programs that aren’t where they started. Coincidence?

There is no good/reliable info out there publicly. This whole NIL clearinghouse thing is a joke... schools openly mocking it. The revenue share is easier to track as some schools will release that info, but the "NIL" money that goes on top of that... it's mostly all hidden. Lot of recruits and transfers still going to the highest bidder....
