🏈 🔎 Looking ahead to Georgia. Neither team is the same as they were a matter of week ago.

Up drinking my coffee this morning and getting ready to head to ATL. I’m feeling quietly confident in the team. Everyone has pretty much written us off, due to the “hard to beat a team twice” mantra and injuries. Well, most of the guys on the injury report have been on there all year and unlike in years past, this coaching staff has played A LOT of guys on both side of the ball in attempt to build depth. Missing LT hurts, but I just feel like this bunch has been resilient all season and the staff will have them ready for a fight. RTR brothers!
Have faith my friend ! I told a customer yesterday that I’m surprisingly calm & confident!

Agree.... Count Bama out is usually not a winning formula for the opposing team... The flip side of this is there are a couple of posters on here when they talk the Bama can't lose and will blow them out mantra, that is usually the kiss of death.

Roll Tide!!!

My post did not age well about not counting bama out....
Sos should put them in imo. I'm not happy with how they looked in the seccg but who else do you put in in front of them? ND, Miami,...? If you think they played their way in you're crazy. Sec should have a full on revolt if Bama doesn't make it and that's not crimson glasses. Bama has many issues but at least they played a decent schedule and won some ranked games.

IMO, Bama and ND should both be in... I hate that ND isn't in a conference, and they should be forced to join one if they want to continue being a part of the playoff. But, right now that's not a rule. And I know Miami beat them early in the season, but ND would beat Miami on a neutral field many more times than not right now. They are the better team. As for Bama, they played the toughest schedule of anyone in the playoff and no SEC team should be punished for losing the championship game (other than the Vols or auburn :p) .

And they lost 3 of them....

Yes. And if losing 3 games was a automatic disqualifier from being included in the playoffs, Bama would be stuck outside. But it isn't. Even with a playoff system that has made mistake after mistake trying to hone in on the best possible selection criteria, number of losses has never even been discussed. Fortunate turn for Alabama, I suppose.

I am not the committee obviously but 3 losses to me disqualifies us. We are certainly not elite by any stretch. Getting in CFP is just another opportunity to lose another game unless some magic pixie dust gets sprinkled on this team. One could say getting healthy is that pixie dust but somehow getting Simpson out of his own head is needed big time.

BTW I have never been blown away with our schedule being this gauntlet when it involves Vandy, Mizzou and S Car.... Sorry just how I see it and I am sure I am misguided. I will give you that Vandy is a much better team than they have been historically. You struggle with teams like that and you are not National Championship level team.

Either way - in or out - there are positives and negatives.

If we get in and do extremely well then that would be wonderful - but I just don't see that happening after watching us struggle with most of our opponents all year. Yeah, we beat 4 ranked teams in a row and we won 10 games but we never really looked like world beaters doing it.

On the other hand, if we're left out it could be the best thing for the program long term. It would certainly open next season with CKD on the "hot seat". Is that a good thing? I dunno. Maybe that'd force the staff to make changes that address the lackluster performance of all that 4 and 5 star talent.

One thing is for sure - we're no longer the "gold standard" of college football. During the Saban years it felt like Bama was on the cutting edge and setting standards for all other programs to follow. Whether it was the high end facilities with the latest tech or the ice baths for quicker physical recovery or the high energy of strength coach Cochran or the psych doctors that Saban brought in to help implement his "process" or the cutting edge medical familities on the sideline -- everything seemed innovative and moving in a positive direction. It doesn't feel that way any more.

Maybe it's unrealistic to think that we'll be able to recapture the Saban magic any time soon. After all it was 25 years before Saban replaced Bryant's magic. Yeah, we had the Stallings NC but it was not exactly a dynasty.

Having said all that - if they do get in I really hope they have a respectable showing and don't shit the bed again like they just did against Georgia.

Roll Tide my friends

Went back and rewatched the first half. And it was utterly embarrassing to witness what Georgia was doing to us defensively. We were completely out coached, and out executed. They fit everything perfectly, they shed off blocks and made plays, took everything deep away from us, took the middle of the field away from us, any open field situation their guys always made the tackle and didn't allow explosive plays. Fucking utterly pathetic showing by this offensive staff and players.

Forgive me if I have this wrong, but haven't you stated on here before that you don't watch games not involving Bama?

No way I am watching that again. Once was enough. 5 and 1(on offense) didn't help themselves with film for the NFL last night. When you play the best teams, you're supposed to come up big. Neither Did.

Im gonna watch the the 2nd half later, even though I know it's just as bad. I want to start a thread going over what schumann and smart did schematically to shut us down. A lot of it is Georgia just being a fundamentally sound and disciplined group defensively. They do everything at a high level on all 3 phases. They put us in a blender, chopped our ass up, and threw us in the garbage like waste. Embarrassing.

You could tell by the demeanor of both Kirby and Schumann (calm) they weren't worried about Bama. Truth is they shit the bed in the 1st game with poor coaching by trying to do too much. They basically ran a 1960's offense last night with the old QB keepers for positive yards and a had a great RB #3 to pound us. Played field position with a great punter and stood around waiting for us to F up.

If any 3 losses disqualify a team then you're just in favor of playing a weak schedule. We will never know but how many losses would OSU, oregon, Texas Tech, etc have if they played Bama's schedule? I'd bet dollars to doughnuts their record wouldn't be what it is now, same if Bama played their schedule. If losses are the only criteria the sec should have a 3 sec game schedule and only play directional schools the rest of the games. SOS has to matter more than losses imo or you've just watered down football even more. Same with letting jmu in, it's crap. If you want to be selected you should have to play a comparable schedule.
