That offense may be better than 2011, but good lord they are losing a lot of production on offense. A LOT!

Returning production:

Passing yards5.8%
Rushing Yards28.5%
OL Starts21.3%
Receiving yards21.7%*

*Before Chase opted out they were returning over 51% of the receiving yards production.

Defense isn't getting off easy as well.

I have always thought Chase was a solid football player, BUT, if I was an NFL owner, I would need to see more from him to see if it was Joe Borrow or if it was Chase with the talent, or both. Of course one year is all most NFL guys want to see and draft guys. Probably why the same teams always suck ass.

Last year's roster.

Orgeron has his ring now and has lived a couple of amazing years in Baton Rouge to cement his legacy. He will get a couple more years to make enough money to live the rest of his life with, but I can't see him coming back from these losses to a Conference Championship type level. Add on top of it possibly infractions due to the basketball program. Always spoke highly of him, but this whole Guice rape deal soured me big time in defending his character.

Has Saban ever had THAT much production leave at once? I mean, their entire team from last year is gone.

Yes we have had years that we lost 9 of our starting 11 off defense. I think some of LSU's losses are deceiving. They get back two studs on d-line 1 starting OLB and 1 staring safety. One of the other safeties played alot and the freshman corners are all big and fast. Their issue will be on depth for both sides of the ball and o-line in my opinion. Also with the oline issues is the issue that you have all freshman tailbacks which leads to more missed blocking assignments.

Now, if you have little to no running game, bad pass protection, with an inexperienced QB and new passing scheme coordinator.. I think you can see what Mr. Chase was looking at during practice. This season wasn't going to help his stock any. If he was going to skip for Covid or opt ought to prevent injury, he would have done that long ago. My guess, as stated above, is that you can take his decision to opt out a couple weeks before the start of the season as an indictment of the quality of the offense that LSU will be putting on the field. Mix that with depth issues on defense and it could get ugly for Coach O and his team.

Yeah, and then you add the fact that CNS never forgets, especially when a HC declares, "Roll tide! F*** you!" I know CNS will never declare any game a revenge game. That said, I don't know which revenge beat down I'm looking more forward to, LSWho? or the barn.

No CFB HC circles a calendar better than Saban. Since 1999, his last year at Michigan State, he has lost BTB regular season games to but 3 teams: UF in 2000-01, LSU in 2010-11, and Ole Miss in 2014-15.

In 2003, he came to Tuscaloosa with the obvious intention of not just beating Bama but to do so by the exact same 31-0 score that Bama had inflicted on him in 2002. Thought he was going to die of a stroke twice in that game. Firstly, when LSU bogged down and had to kick a FG making the score 27-0 rather than the 31-0 score that a TD would have produced. Secondly, when Bama kicked the late FG denying him his shutout.
