🏈 LSU vs. Bama Position Breakdown

QB
The LSU 2 qb system really is getting better. Last week was a poor performance, but it has worked against other teams. Mcelroy holds onto the ball too long and throws uncharacteristic picks which are now characteristic. He also sucks at post game speeches
Push

RB
Ridley is second in the SEC with 723 rushing yards. Richardson has been a little disappointing only averaging 75.75 yards/game. Ingram also has not looked the same since his injury at the beginning of the season
Push

WR
LSU has 3 5star recruits at WR. Julio is only one man. There is no doubt here who has the better talent.
Advantage LSU

O-Line

LSU's line is better than last year. Bama's is worse. Bama is giving up a bunch more sacks than last year and LSU a bunch less. O-Line was the worst part of LSU's offense last year and it no longer is.
Slight advantage LSU

D-Line
Sam Montgomery is out for the year which hurts. Drake Nevis has looked like Glen Dorsey reincarnated. LSU is young here, but still very good. Dareus is banged up and no other Bama players at note worth on the line
Advantage LSU

LB
Kelvin Shepphard will be first team all SEC. Ryan Baker has been a pleasant surprise as well. Dontae Hightower is a good player. These units are pretty even.
Push

Secondary
Mark Barron is bama's best secondary player. Dre Kirkpatrick is a good cover corner. Patrick PEterson is the best in the country though. The best. On the other side Mo Claiborne is no slouch. Don't forget about the ever reliable Brandon Taylor at Safety.
Major Advantage LSU

Special Teams
Peterson is also one of the best returners in the country. Josh Jasper is an all sec kicker. Bama no longer has their great punt return specialist in Arenas.
Advantage LSU

Intangibles
Game is in tiger stadium. Miles is better off a loss than Saban. LSU is getting no respect from the national media.
Advantage LSU

LSU 30 Bama 14

Get it in while you can, seeing as you won't be around Sunday. Hey wait, are you the same corndog that was here a couple years ago posting this type of wishful thinking?

Wow. Your QBs are both horrible. You have great receivers but don't have a QB that can get them the ball consistently.

I'll take Ingram and Richardson over Ridley any day.

Drake Nevis didn't do much last week...

Your views and lack of insight are amusing.

You had me at "sucks at post game speeches". You do realize McElroy is a Rhodes scholarship finalist don't you? Do you know what a huge honor that is? Now, he might not be the best and most talented QB, but he is impressive as heck in front of a microphone during an interview. The guy knows his stuff and actually knows tons of it. And BTW have you ever listened to your coach during a post-game interview? Ooops, sorry McElroy. That was very insulting of me to compare the two of you.

QB

COMBINED Lee and Jefferson 141.30. ypg 1,071 TTL 4 TD COMBINED

AJ McCarron our backup QB has just as many yards as lee at 47 and has passed for 2 touchdowns as has Lee and Jefferson.

Ridley 4.8 per carry 6 td's 90.4 yards per game

Jefferson 3.6 5 35.1

Jones averages 83.6 yards per game Julio avgs 14.9 per pass. Julio has 3 TDS

On top of this you add in Hanks and Maze who both avg 15 yards per catch and have 3 combined TDS. I'll also allow Shepard in there for LSU with his 6.5 avg and 1 TD..no other receiver has scored for LSU... Preston Dial and Trent Richardson have 3 TDs a peice

OL

Bama is giving up more sacks because because McElroy holds the ball for 25 seconds. I think its a PUSH but I'll give you slight advantage...

LSU SLIGHT ADVANTAGE

--------------------------------------------------------------
DL

Dareus has 2.5 sacks

[/FONT]Nevis has 5 sacks

But Alabama doesn't really play to sack, so this is a bad stat to compare. We tend to pressure the QB to make bad decisions, and since Bama leads the nation in interceptions. I'm going to call this a PUSH

LB

Upshaw 1.0 sacks 7.5 TFL 0 int 22 tackles
Hightower 0 sacks 1.5 TFL 0 int 42 tackles

Sheppard 3.5 sacks TFL 7.5 0 int 73 tackles

Stats dont tell the whole story. Nice try

Stats dont tell the whole story. Nice try

I know I’ve already responded, but this was just too much fun to walk away from. Especially after your “stats don’t tell the whole story” post.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

QBs-
Stats are fairly telling here. Your two QBs are HORRIBLE. It is safe to say that Auburn’s secondary has been less than stellar this season. Using that game as a barometer, your QBs won’t do much against Bama. 128 passing yards? Again, for perspective—Arkansas State was able to pass for more yards against Auburn than LSU. LSU has thrown for a whopping 1,110 yards this season.

RBs-
Since you reference stats here—Ridley has 723 yards on the season. Ingram has 544 through 6 games. Richardson has 606 through 8 games, only two as a starter. So yes, individually Ridley has put up more yardage than Ingram and Richardson. Let’s look a little deeper. Your second highest rusher is Jefferson at 281. As a team you’ve rushed for 1,433 and 16 TDs. Bama has rushed for 1,495 and 17 scores. If you look statistically, yes—it is a virtual push. Looking at the players—Ridley is the only consistent force you have in the backfield. Bama can legitimately go 3-deep with Ingram, Richardson and Lacey.

WRs-
Your argument at receiver makes me chuckle. Stats don’t tell everything for you but recruiting stars do? Randle, Tolliver and Shepard are all big, talented guys. They also only average a collective 102 yards/game. Again, this is a situation where stats are telling. You can have all the talent at wideout in the world, if you don’t have a QB that can get the ball to them it doesn’t really matter.

O-Line-
Yes, Bama is giving up a lot of sacks this year, but it isn’t solely attributed to poor line play. McElroy has had more than enough time in the pocket; he’s just not getting rid of the ball quickly enough. LSU may well be lower in number of sacks given, but LSU was rarely able to keep Fairley out of the backfield last week.

D-Line-
Nevis doesn’t play with anywhere near the consistency Glenn Dorsey did. Nevis is a good football player but when your team needed him the most, in Jordan-Hare Stadium, he had ZERO tackles for a loss. To be more specific, no one on your defensive line accounted for a tackle behind the line of scrimmage last week.

LB-
This one you may actually be closer. Sheppard is great, Hightower is great. The other players on both sides are solid but not superstars yet.

Secondary-
Peterson is a lockdown corner—you’re dead on about that. However, it is a moot point because Bama will not look to throw the ball that often against LSU. Yes, Peterson may well be able to take Julio out of the game. Bama has more than enough weapons, including throwing to Richardson in the flat.

Special Teams-
Your punter is fantastic. Peterson can be neutralized in the return game.

Intangibles-
I’m not sure this is as big as you think. Bama won the last time they came to Death Valley and many of those players are still on the team today. It isn’t like they’re walking into a new environment.

Also, LSU isn’t getting any respect because your offense has been absolutely anemic.

It is funny you think stats don't tell the whole story, but your gut instinct certainly does, eh?
