I was just wondering if anyone knew why Horton didn't play last night? I may have missed him being on the IR, or maybe he was serving a suspension? But I was thinking to myself several times, where is Horton? He's been really clutch for Bama on third downs and goal line situations, but I never saw him once last night. Rico Scott is okay but he's not a replacement for number 1. Bernard is the best player on the team, and Williams is a stud athlete (still has the dropsies from time to time) but Horton has been very reliable and a favorite target of Simpson when Bama really needs a play. He is good at getting open but he's elite at making contested catches, and with his 6'5" frame he's a big target. I think Bama really missed him last night, especially with Brooks being out.

Horton exited Saturday's game against South Carolina with 1:45 left in the first half with an apparent injury and went to the locker room, according to Mike Rodak of 247Sports.com.

The extent of the injury is uncertain, but if Horton went to the locker room to get checked out, there might be a scenario in which he might not be able to return to action. Horton has yet to record a catch in this game.

From Bama Play-by-play:

3rd and 24 at ALA15 - (13:18) No Huddle-Shotgun Simpson,Ty pass complete deep middle to Horton,Isaiah caught at ALA35, for 19 yards to the ALA34 (Smith,DQ) PENALTY USC Illegal Substitution 5 yards from ALA15 to ALA20. NO PLAY. The previous play is under automatic review - "Penalty enforcement". PLAY OVERTURNED. (Original Play: (13:18) No Huddle-Shotgun #15 T.Simpson pass complete deep middle to #1 I.Horton caught at ALA35, for 19 yards to the ALA34 (#1 D.Smith)).
The wire report says he played in the first half, exiting with an injury at 1:45 in 2Q. He did make a catch for 19 yards, pasted above from team play-by-play, but it was negated by the 12 men on the field penalty on the D.

I've not heard anything on him. Hopefully it isn't serious and he'll heal up over the next two weeks. I agree that losing him and Brooks contributed to our problems on offense.

That’s an odd play. Says catch for 19 yards but then the 12 men penalty on SC. Then after review the play was overturned and the 19 yard catch stands. Which we would have taken over the 5 yard penalty. But the box score doesn’t mention Horton. I’m wondering if he didn’t complete that catch. I missed the first half, I admit.

I remember the play. The catch was still short of a first down, so they took the penalty. Whoever was in Palmer's ear caught the 12 men before the officials did. They initially waived off the penalty, then went to replay to confirm it. I still have the play-by-play tab up, we actually converted on the next play:

3rd and 24 at ALA15 - (13:18) No Huddle-Shotgun Simpson,Ty pass complete deep middle to Horton,Isaiah caught at ALA35, for 19 yards to the ALA34 (Smith,DQ) PENALTY USC Illegal Substitution 5 yards from ALA15 to ALA20. 3rd and 19 at ALA20 - (13:04) No Huddle-Shotgun Simpson,Ty pass complete short right to Hill,Daniel caught at ALA25, for 21 yards to the ALA41 (Smith,DQ), out of bounds, 1ST DOWN.

Brooks is a Playa for sure.
A bit of a tangent here, but I have to ask everyone. Is it me or does Brooks, Williams, and to a lesser extent our other skill players, more than in past seasons, bounce up like springs almost every time they hit the ground??? It's like jujutsu or something wherein they rise up with the same energy with which they fell. Does it have to do with new techniques in today's physical conditioning?

It's really how they are. I'm 6feet tall and weight 260lbs but I can still jump high at 44 years old.
