Why not play all of the regular season games this year and not have the SEC Championship game and then the conference might have a better chance of getting 2 teams in
Because he kind of quit giving a shit about winning a championship about a week before the game... Let the program and his players down in favor of his next move, showing up late & generally having a lack of focus. At least that's how I understood it.
Commish Sankey has a real tough job this year....
Gonna be some tough unpopular decisions....
Hard to keep 14 school administrators, fans, ADs, players, coaches happy

Big 10 didn't put in a bye week to deal with any potential COVID issues.
"There will be no bye weeks for the 2020 fall season. ... The decision was based on information presented by the Big Ten Return to Competition Task Force. "
So their schedule is even tighter. No make ups, you just lose the game or games.

That, and the fact that his team has quit on him. It all made it easier to make that phone call to Sankey and say, "muh numbers! Contact tracing, COVID!" You can bet your ass that had they been sitting at 5-1 or 6-0, not one word would've been said about any positive tests. Easy to use Covid as a "cop out" when your season is a dumpster fire. There were HS's here in the AHSAA that finished their regular seasons having only played 6,7, or 8 games. Their win totals, 0,1, or 2. Easy to fold up and take up gear if you have nothing to play for.
