| FTBL LSU: Night game in the Bayou! 🏟️

From the 1965 season through the 2022 season, the record for Alabama Football in Baton Rouge was 23-6. I am not worried about playing LSU in Red Stick at night. We will play loose and fast. Saying it now. Bama will beat LSU and look great doing it.

Realistically what are Bama's chances of beating LSU? I'm just curious to know what you all think. Am I just overly pessimistic? Do they have a legitimate shot at beating LSU? It's in Death Valley. It's a night game. The stadium will be as loud as it always is. I feel like Bama will have to play a perfect game. Can they avoid all the penalties that have plagued them all year? Will JM be on his game? Because lately he has played terrible. He really didn't look that good against Mizzou. Can they run the ball on LSU the way A&M did? Will the Bama defense be able to stop Nussmeier and the LSU offense? I truly want to hear your opinions.

With Nussmeir not being as mobile as some I believe we can get home a few times and get him rattled. On offense need to play the edges and wear their D-line down with jet sweeps, and maybe some quick screens.

Bama should be a slight favorite, so just based on that alone, the chance is more than realistic. I think it's more than fair though to be a bit skeptical on how well Bama will play, especially with it being on the road. Was Bama's game against Mizzou an outlier? Or did Bama get some things fixed that maybe put them back on track? The LSU game should answer that, but IMO, the physical play that Bama showed on both sides last Saturday to go along with the rejuvenated running game and continued improvement of the defense are all positive indicators. Now, they get another week off to rest up and in a similar fashion to Saban, DeBoer usually makes the most of a bye week in terms of scheming for the next opponent.

I would push back a bit on the Milroe comment... he had his share of struggles against South Carolina and Tennessee, but overall, against Mizzou, he played pretty well. He was barely off the mark on about 4 passes, 2 or 3 of which should have been caught. He was more comfortable running it again too, which really opens up the potential of the offense with him at QB. These bye week should be beneficial to him physically, which will help him maintain that threat against LSU. I will mention though, at this point, I'd imagine LSU will focus first and foremost on stopping him from hurting them with his legs after seeing that A&M's backup Michael Reed did to them plus the fact that Milroe had about 150 and 4 TD's rushing against them last year.

On Nussmeier... He's a good QB, but he's had 3 games where he's thrown multiple interceptions. And Bama's defense has 11 of those already on the season. I'll be interested in seeing how Wommack and the staff attacks him. Their OL is really good. And Nussmeier has torched teams this season when they've blitzed and didn't get home. On the other hand, when he's been under pressure, he's made some terrible decisions and forced some throws into coverage and turned it over.

Those are good points, and I hope the defense plays like it did against Mizzou. That being said, remember that Mizzou threw their backup in and he was just terrible. But I agree that hopefully the front seven can pressure Nussmeier and make him uncomfortable. I think that will be the key to the game. On offense I am glad they have two weeks to prepare. DeBoer should be able to come up with some really good schemes to frustrate LSU. And realistically their defense has not played that well this year. They have had their ups and downs just like the Bama defense. Like the game against the Aggies. They had no answer for that QB.

The backup was bad, but a healthy Brady Cook wasn't gonna fare much better that day, other than likely not throwing 3 picks. Back up QB (and RB) or not, they were overmatched by the way Bama played.

Ok we have all seen Bama play and know what they are at this point. That means they can beat anyone and they can get beat by anyone. It is all about Bama. Play clean game and win. Play unclean game and lose. Pretty simple to me at this point. Which will we get? On the road.? History says we get the unclean Bama team.
