🏈 Looking forward: Ole Miss vs BAMA

The disparity in athletes and athletic talent had a lot to do with that as well. Their QB had a pop gun arm and the talent gap between the two teams were night and day. There won't be that talent gap this Saturday against Ole Miss. I expect them to implement a lot of the same principles that MTSU did but with the talent to get the results.

Did you notice any of MTSU's WRs? 6' 3" and all around 200+. A LOT of those guys were Power 5 rejects!! They either couldn't get in a Power 5 school due to grades or flunked out. Very similar to JSU to some degree. MTSU was a upper classmen laden group with the exception of the QB. Granted, the kid has less than a pop gun arm though. More like a wet towel! Tyrone Nix is also their DC and he is known for screwing with a QBs head. I would give Stockstill and his crew a little more credit.

I am worried and may, no, probably won't watch it. I can only take so many p.m. Drugs to settle myself down. My heart just can't take the pressure. I am worried for all of the reasons already stated. I would like to reiterate that if we have to rely on AG I'm afraid we're sunk.

They will never be able to handle the up tempo teams with the scheme they use.
The team just handled an up tempo team this past weekend. The team killed an up tempo team last year to the tune of 59-0.

It's not an up-tempo offense versus scheme; it's match-ups. Yes, teams that Bama faces are having success with players going against linebackers (IE: slant patterns out of three and four wide sets. However, there's another 127 or so teams that have the same issue.

If I said this once last year I said it twenty times. When Bama faces some of these teams that take advantage of match-ups they do allow yards. But, those yards aren't always seen on the scoreboard.

The last loss Bama recorded against an up-tempo team was in 2012 against A&M. That wasn't scheme as much as it was ol' Johnny.

I think you have to build in giving up some yards to these types of offenses when they are good. Now... when they're not very good they're terrible i.e. tamu last year.

The trouble comes for the HUNH spread type offenses in the red zone. Bama's D was ok saturday.

i can't get over how much this feels like 2010 --- you know--- the week before Garcia had the game of his life and our offense forgot to show up.

This part right here! Ppl ( even supposed offensive coaching geniuses) have talked about how many yards that a team put on. Bama, but "just" came up shy inside the 20's. That's what the erase last year was supposed to do. Keep things contained to " in front of you." Give them betweent he 20's all day long, just don't give them the end zone. As much as we hate the terms it is what it is, and what it is, is....bend but don't break.

Sorry for all the typos. I was sitting int he parking lot of the city (mechanical) shop waiting for a ride, (I guess I gave my truck the same sinus crud that I have. It started coughing and sneezing on the way to work this morning.)
Anyway, yeah, we gave up a lot of yards last year and played containment, keeping them oput oft he endzone. And last I checked, as long as we get to the endzone more than they (d0) we win.

Well they are a confident bunch of fuckers. Local morning sports shows are a congratulatory crap fest with the hosts and the callers trying to out do each other over how awesome the bearrebels are this year. I had to pull over and puke twice on my way in this morning

To me, that's a great barometer! Two games, against inferior opponents, and Ole Miss is listening to the hype and believing it. Meanwhile, the doom and gloom crowd has shown up in great numbers for Alabama this year while the team works with a quiet confidence. How do I know this? I could tell you but it's a secret that only insiders would understand. :bolt:

Anyway, I think the Ole Miss coronation will be over after this weekend. UT-Martin and Fresno St. were glorified scrimmages for Ole Miss and they have not faced ANY pressure this season. I think Kelly could be an upgrade over what they had last year but how can you tell that when the best Fresno has shown this year is that they only allowed 13 points to Abilene Christian? Well, I guess when you consider UT Martin hung 72 points on Bethel! I mean, c'mon guys! By the time we normally play Ole Miss, we have a pretty good idea if they are decent or not but not with the opponents they have faced so far. On the other hand, everything from a negative perspective I have read against Alabama has been due to the results of the MTSU game. A game that was WON 37-10, against a team that was able to score 70+ points on Jackson St. the previous week. Sorry but Jackson St. could probably hang with UT Martin and give Fresno a game. All of that being said, so what if Hugh Freeze is a jackass and runs up the score against inferior opponents? We could have done the same but we were trying some new wrinkles on offense that were partially successful and people interpret it as a struggle.

Revenge will be on the mind of the Tide and will win this one going away: BAMA 38 Ole Missy 17. BDS will be rocking! Let's see how Mr. Kelly handles that!

You seem to forget that Alabama lost to Ole Miss and Ohio St last year, Auburn and Oklahoma in 2013. If you watch each of those games, those teams hurt us when they used the no huddle offense and/or read-option. Also, in 2013, we also gave up 42 points to A&M; last year we gave up 44 to Auburn. With this year's offense, we can't afford to give up those kind of numbers.
