🏈 Josh Pate: "Last night did permanent damage to Clemson"

Dabo's downfall isn't just because he isn't adapting to the current CFB landscape. His coordinator hires have been average at best. I remember the median and fans making a big deal that Garret Riley (former TCU OC/QB coach) chose to go to Clemson over Alabama (which I am unsure if we even pursued him). They've put up good numbers vs lesser ACC opponents, but they've been pedestrian against quality opponents.

I think we saw some of this with Saban after 2018. Outside of 2020 - which featured a really good offensive staff, led by Sark - the staffs were nowhere near the elite level that we saw from 2008-2018.

But I do wonder if Dabo's approach to today's game keeps him from getting better coaches.

I think his approach is admirable. But Not working.
Maybe he will stay withit. N it will. Eventually.

Kids more interested in "how much will u give me" as to....what can i do to help program n get developed

Okay. Tell me about Matt Rhule at UN. How is that build about him?
The format of being hc in cf is built around...the hc persona....the face of the program...
I actually thought..when i posted....you would throw KD.... he allows a little more "face time" around ACs....
as far as Matt Rhule....its a "???????????" He better start winning n competing.....
Or he will be another talking head somewhere...11 th in big??? 10

I have beat this to death on here, but I'll say it again. The 15 year mark is tough on coaches. Dabo is at year 16.

Spurrier did 12 at UF, Phat Phil did 17 at UT, Mack Brown 17 at Tex.
As much as we hate to say it. Saban had issues around year 14/15. We didn't necessarily lose a lot of games, but we saw slipping. Our D wasn't as stout, penalties, etc. The game changes in cycles and it is hard to evolve and recreate yourself when it does this.

Makes you really respect Bear Bryant even more. By the 15 year mark, it was the mid to late 70s and he was coaching up his second dynasty of championship teams.
