and I can't wait...
but I am also a JSU guy. My wife and I met while students at Jax State, and I still follow JSU and attend games when I can.
...so I went over to the Arkansas forums to see what they are saying about the game with JSU this week. JSU is improved on defense, loaded on offense, and if Arkansas is asleep at the wheel, JSU will scare them.
By and large, you wouldn't know they were playing JSU this week. While there were one or two posts about JSU, the insanity for which I craft an annual post has already begun.
The set-up...
tumultuous [tjuːˈmʌltjʊəs]adj1. uproarious, riotous, or turbulent a tumultuous welcome
2. greatly agitated, confused, or disturbed a tumultuous dream
They have lost players...and multiple players were arrested in the off-season.
Their head coach was canned in the off-season.
They hired a retread interim who has a career full of mixed results. Most recently he was the drive through head coach at Weber State - abandoning his Alma mater without ever coaching a game there. Prior to that he was fired from Michigan State after rolling to a 22-26 record in 4 seasons. He had a 41-21 record at Louisville while they were still in CUSA, preceded by a 16-18 record at Utah State.
They have no reason to do more than hope to be competitive against a 'Bama team that is loaded on offense and reloaded on defense. Sure, being a homer and hoping / believing you can win is expected - but they carry it much further than any other fan base.
...yet they are already working their little piggy selves into a slobbering frenzy about how Arkansas should beat Alabama in '12, and an Alabama win would be an upset. They are starting early this season. They are already at Wednesday levels, and it isn't even game week.
The post... is coming in 3 weeks.
