🏈 Is this McElroy or JP Wilson?

i've been puzzled this whole first half at Greg's intent to throw to Julio, even into double and triple coverage. so far this season (ever since the 2nd half vs VT), i've been impressed with Greg's distribution of the ball. however, this game has been a step backwards for Greg so far.

does anyone know anything that might explain why Greg has had such tunnel vision???

i personally like the plays they are trying to get going with julio.. that endzone "throw it up" pass could be the difference between winning a game or not.. it seems obvious that mcelroy has trouble throwing that pass.. i think it is something that we need in the playbook.. it is the pass version of giving it to ingram off tackle.. when done correctly it cannot be stopped..

Besides that missed opportunity for a touchdown down the middle I thought it was more "iffy" play calling in this game than Mcelory not playing well. A defensive battle tho, our D is simply amazing.

Best I recall after last week's game it was being questioned why Mac wasnt throwing to him! I fugured this is what would happen...We should just let him make the reads and and throw the ball to who he sees open and not let reporters affect him. He is 22-0 as a starter and have us sitting at #3 and undefeated. I say we ALL quit questioning our QB, I think he is doing a fine job and is very well coached and I also think that the interview and questioning of why Julio was not being thrown to had alot of affect on who Mac fired at today. Ole Miss had a good D too....ROLL TIDE

Yeah, I agree that McElroy did not look as sharp today, but sometimes that can be expected, especially from a first-year quarterback. Also, one has to wonder if McElroy was feeling anxious about getting the ball to Julio more and that might have thrown him out of his usual groove.

One thing though, in his defense. He had Ole Miss defenders on his butt ALL DAY LONG. Freaking Carpenter is going to get him killed if we're not careful. You can only ask a QB to do so much or maintain a certain level of composure when he's getting hit. Just ask Jevan Snead.

The whole day was set by the first play. JJ drop an easy pass and the rest we all saw it. Peek drop a sure TD so we need to learn to catch the ball and the QB needs to look to someone besides 8.

wow, how one game will change the tune of certain fans. this is the first time he has attempted to force it to Julio since the 1st half of the VT game so dont even try that. Peek and Julio did have ONE drop but dont come with that 'we need to learn to catch the ball crap'. jesus. if he starts forcing it more from here on out then you can try that asinine "look to someone besides 8' bullcrap.

The real problem today was pass blocking. You cant really go through your reads and make the throw own your back. If anything, we couldve used more draws and screens to dilute the blitz a bit However anything deep today was like an automatic sack.

He had jitter bugs when he did have time sadly, but I can understand why.

He made some good throws that werent caught yet again, he threw the ball away when he needed to do it. He had no turnovers.

McElroy needs time to play his game, since he isnt a gunslinger. It all starts with the oline.

I agree. The line proves they still have lots to learn. We have lots to work on this week for South Carolina. We still have improving to do in certain areas. I don't know that we've played our best game yet.

FACT: Julio has been playing short of his ability all year...I am well aware of him having more than his share of attention on the field with double and triple coverage...but he had dropped several VERY EASY balls. Not go out and stretch..or one handed drops...balls flat on the chest and hands. Granted all of the passes to him in the endzone today were junk...nobody could have pulled those in...GMAC needs to work on that. As for Peek..his drop was a tough one..he kinda got twisted up..damn fine player IMO and I can understand his drop..but he made some really good snags too.
