No game thread today... haven't been home until now and didn't want to bother doing it on the phone. Solid win though over a good UAB squad... as stated in the title, Bama has won all their midweek games so far this season... only a couple left to play at this point (@ Samford & @ Troy). The bats were still pretty quit tonight, only 7 hits, but they made the most of them at least. Norton and Staton both hit HR's which was good to see... Bonomolo Jr. had a big RBI double in the 7th to give Bama an insurance run. Really need the hitting to tick back up though, soon. And on top of that, this Bama team was really good for the first half of the season in working counts and drawing walks... led to more runs and big innings. We haven't seen that nearly as much lately. Good news is, based on his comments lately, Vaughn is well aware the need to pick it up offensively. On the mound tonight, Alcock got the start and pitched ok from what little I saw (I got there a bit late). The pen was ok, still too many walks. Ozmer nailed down the 9th for his 12th save of the year.
Up next: 3 games in Baton Rouge starting Thursday night against what should be a pissed off LSU squad who just got swept in auburn.
