🏈 Is is Safe to Call the SEC The Quarterback Conference on Draft Day?

Nice read Terry, it brought back some memories from the good ole days when I was a Cowboy fan myself. The Doomsday Defense with Harvey Martin, Randy White, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, DD Lewis and Hollywood Henderson. Those are all I can remember but I remember it so well because I got so excited the night they played Denver in the Super Bowl that I broke my finger pretending to score a touchdown diving over the line and landing on my hand during half time. I spent the 2nd half of that game in the emergency room. Thankfully my time in the waiting room took most of the 2nd half. Of course I failed to name my favorite player Tony Dorsett.

Like you (I think), I could care less if Dallas or any pro team ever win another game today and seldom keep up with what happens on draft day. I guess that all started when Tom Landry was let go from his coaching responsiblities although the Troy Aikman and Emmit Smith era of the Cowboys did peak my interest some.

Anyway, thanks again for a trip down memory lane and those facts on SEC quarterbacks. I didn't realize our conference was doing that well. Maybe someday soon, we will add a name to that list.:a:

This "trend" stands to continue, if not grow. Not only is the SEC fielding an environment that can grow #1 picks, thus we will retain locally grown talent like Russell and Manning, but with Stafford the flood of QBs from Texas are now being shown how fertile the SEC ground can be. To the next step, this sheds a new light of emphasis on this year's visit by California-Kid Nick Montana and the commitment of Sims from Oscar Smith HS in Chesapeake, VA. I will not be surprised to see and increase in nation-wide QB signings, even among the lover tiered SEC schools.
