--NUMBERS GAME: Alabama exits spring practice with 66 players thought to be on scholarship, leaving only 19 available spots under the 85-man limit to welcome this year's signing class.
The 32 that signed must be dwindled to 27 (two have already enrolled). Some incoming freshmen will likely not qualify academically or opt to grayshirt, but clearly, a small number of current players may be affected by the scholarship crunch.
Saban grew defensive when quizzed Monday about the topic, insisting he has a plan he won't share publicly.
"It's all worked out," Saban said. "The whole thing has a solution to every issue. You don't put yourself in a position where you don't know what's coming and then have to take it in the chops. So we know how it has to be managed, and it will be managed."
