| FTBL Imma Start It: Fire the OC and DC

I think CKD is a good coach. We as alabama fans have grown accustomed to a great coach but the program and college football was changing under Saban as well which imo is the reason he left. I've been an Alabama fan all my life, I used to be an NFL fan. College is taking a very NFL turn in what it's becoming and if there isn't a change I'll find something else to do with my fall Saturdays. Some will say that's a bandwagon or sidewalk fan but it's just becoming something I don't want to watch.
Football to me is the ultimate team sport where each person has to do their job and everyone holds each other accountable for it and at a place like Alabama the standard has been high for a long time. The coach was looked at by the players with the highest level of respect and held in very high regard. Coach also treated the players like his own kids, praised you, got on your ass when you needed it, and was there for you when you needed him. Great sport with great life lessons and you won and lost with class or you paid for it.
This game is becoming something controlled by players who are 19 and 20 year old kids, many of whom are being given huge sums of money and we expect them not to act like rich 19 year old kids. It's becoming a game where players won't play for the team because the first team qb got benched, where having the best athletes on your team doesn't mean anything because they don't feel like putting their best effort on this Saturday, where players are running the team not coaches and that's not a game I want to trade my Saturdays for.
I hope it gets under control with transfers and NIL but I think the genie has been let out of the bottle and it isn't going back. I'd like to see an NFL minor league started for top athletes and let college ball go back to being college ball but I don't think that will happen either, colleges don't want to compete with another league or give up their best athletes. So i think it will continue down this path, various changes will occur to get a couple of super leagues, rivalries will go away, coaches and players will become what they are in the NFL and the sport I've known and loved will be transformed into something I just don't want to watch.
Well said! I think you nailed it about allowing the players to make such big decisions. I don't know how you discipline a 19 year old player in this current environment. I think you are correct in that we are headed for a "super league" with an NFL model.

Got a defense learning a new defensive scheme , so its not just the freshmen learning.

Offense learning a new offense and blocking scheme as well as a new Coach learning a new league that is unforgiving =

growing pains. Its gonna be like this till we get a handle on what the coaches want. Self inflicted wounds make it worse.

Sark, Kiffin, Lanning, Demeco Ryans. After Deboer is gone and he will be gone at some point, there are the names we need to go after.

DeBoer is 2-0 against Sarkisian, with lesser talent.

He's 3-0 against Lanning.

DeMeco ain't leaving the NFL anytime soon.

I'm going to pretend I don't even see Kiffin on that list and give you a pass on that one.

Haven't we done this thread before? I think we have more problem on the offense side then the defense side.
Eh it varies week by week. This is the first time the defense has looked good since the first half of the UGA game. And it was against a TN team that has struggled offensively.

Idk this entire team doesn't look like they're coached well. I thought coming into the season, schematically, Alabama would have an advantage on offense and would be a highly aggressive D. It's neither, really. Questionable play calling on offense; low percentage blitz rate on D. I had no idea Sheridan's coaching history included him being fired twice.

It's DeBoer's program now, so he'll have to take control. I just think to pair with his calm demeanor, he needs to surround himself with more intense coaches. Don't change your approach in how you personally coach, but match it with a staff that does take a different approach.

Please get rid of them!!!
The defense played well enough yesterday to win the game. We shit the bed in the 1st half by doing nothing with the turnovers the defense gave the offense.

We have so many problems on offense it is hard to overcome. Play calling, OL mistakes, RB's not getting that extra yard when needed due to F juking, and a QB that is playing at a high level due to his IQ,

Kalen took the appeasement route hoping to keep as much as his roster and #13 and #4 lead the way. Kalen rewarded them with naming the captains before a season. There is no discipline on this team, and nobody is held accountable. No organization can be successful with the current structure.

JMO but blow this shit up today by stating the backup will start vs Mizzou (even though you know you may have to replace him with #4). Let those that don't like a white QB taking snaps ahead of #4 speak their thoughts and then show them the F door. Stop pay on their NIL funds that day.

This season is done so let's not allow 2025 to be the same. Start today getting ready for 2025 with those players that want to be at Bama.

Look for this team to give and get a massive transfusion of portal players, along with the new recruiting class…

Guy I know I'm hitting a dead horse here! I will say it again NIL and transfer portal!! How many players left after Saban left? 20 or more left. FSU got like 10 of these players, Texas, Pitt, Louisville, Ohio St. I can't think of any other team. How many were these player on defense?
I’m curious, how many that left actually had meaningful playing time/reps…A lot of people on our rooster languished on the bench… The rotation policy was mainly none existent .. A lot of unused football uniforms after games..So we probably had a lot of untested “talent” from the Saban era finally getting a shot here…Saban teams mainly reloaded only starters..

CK does use a lot of player.

As I said in another thread, the book on us is out there now. Pressure Milroe because he is a poor QB under pressure, blitz often, and prey on our weak (read: young and inexperienced) defensive backfield and the fact that Wommack refuses to blitz for some reason. I knew there were going to be growing pains, but I was expecting continuous improvement throughout the season on a steady upward track. This is not happening. And the worst part is that if the whole college football community knows our weaknesses and gameplans accordingly, why have we not made corrective changes????????

See. This why its tough to follow a legend...
Thats..when they hired Perkins...he was tough enough to put the legends shadow away...wasnt pretty....were pains...

Is KD tough enough? He did change his "walmart" shirt for an "Academy " one...

The pains are there.....it hurts....especially....to Tennessee...4 games left to get steamboat moving in right direction...with the desert at the end .....

I don't disagree, but the lack of discipline and just dumb flags.......that's not growing pains. That's lack of focus. It takes no effort or talent to keep from getting an unsportsmanlike flag. None. We have have had two the last three games. One didn't really matter all that much, we were already beat. The one last night really killed our chances.

That's not the reason why we lost. We lost due to the other 75 flags and poor execution/play calling.
Agree on the penatlies. Last years team had similar issues. Bama in Knoxville 2 years ago had the same problem. Double digit penalties. Fortunatley that is actually one thing that can be cleaned up this year. We are getting new coaches, changing schemes or getting new players so control what you can control and by far cleaning up penalties is the most likely needle mover at this point.

I just don't see Deboer working out. While he won't be fired after a season, he ultimately will not work out. Either he's going to realize he's in over his head and leave on his own, of it'll get so bad, they'll have no choice but to pull the plug. He's not a good coach. We have another one that we can add to the Dubose, Franchione, Price, Shula list. Although I kind of hate to lump him in with Fran. At least Fran had SOME games where we won convincingly. Hell, Fran beat Saban 31-0 on the road! But, we will end up replacing him at some juncture. Probably a few years from now. Not unless he does like Shula almost did and lands a Tebow type recruit or something of that nature. Otherwise, we will have to get used to 8-4/7-5 kind of seasons
Dude first year.... breathe.

Hearing several people say this. I have replied a few times with the same thing... 1st half yes but not 2nd half. Agree we should have been up by more with the 3 turnovers we got in the first half. However 2nd half I think we gave up close to 300 yards total offense. That is not playing winning football on D. Also gave up 200+ rushing yards total and 21 points in the 2nd half.
