| FOOD I'm in the mood for a food thread. If it's boring? I don't want to hear about it. A twist on something? Yeah.

That's what I was after ... but you know how we derail threads here. It's a staple. (yeah...laughing at myself, again.)

It's a good idea. I'd like to read some of the responses. IE: What's on your grocery list? What are you doing with it?
You right we talking about football, then, someone to start talking about the presidential race. But, I like the fact you and the other just let it go on, and you don't stop it.

Terry it has nothing to do with my beliefs. But I'm going and try this.
There are a lot of people that won't cook with wine because it's wine. I could throw some cooking recipes at ya...but as and example, Catfish marinated/cooked in white wine. I throw one together in a cooking dish topped with mushrooms...then make a sauce to the side.

@TerryP , do you do any blue crabbing? Really like cooking with those.

Grilled dawgs :p But have a huge crock pot of queso blanco with grilled hamburger and Rotels to either smother the dawg or just do Lime tostada chips/Fritos. I use heavy cream to thin the dip, to me it’s just better, Also grilled some chicken breast to make chicken salad (granddaughter doesn’t like hot dawgs)., again, Imo grilling it just makes it taste better.

No. I've thought about it, but said, "no." I don't blame them, but the guys out there crabbing aren't friendly. It's just one of those "unsaid things" like you'll find in baseball. I'm not going to drop cages.

BUT.

Charley Brown Seafood. I get them live. There are probably five or six places I can get to in a few minutes that have them live.

Have you ever eaten at Joe's Crab Shack? The crab dip they have made with blue crabs...shit. I went to the one in Myrtle ...

Now you have me mad. How do I make that.

I've never dropped pots, always used nets and either run them while fishing or just sitting on the dock having a few beers. I've had the dip it's good stuff but prefer them steamed, wife likes them in crab cakes. About 3 more weeks I'll be catching some.

Here we go again...

My grandma, and my mother, love salmon patties. I can't stand the way they smell when cooking although I LOVE grilled salmon. @It Takes Eleven this makes me think of you. You avoid bread.

A crab cake on a sesame seed bun with a Cajun tartar sauce and a tomato slice? They are not hard to make.

Same on the salmon and salmon patties. I'm not a crab cake fan but when I make them it's just enough bread crumbs to hold it together, mostly crab.

I like pea patties, with leftover blackeyed peas, onion, egg, flour.

New one on me. Had potato patties with leftover mashed potatoes but never peas
Same here. New one on me. BUT, definitely on the "to-do" list.

The timing of this post is GREAT! My mom has been asking me to buy black-eyed peas, I have. I mentioned the ham I smoked...was thinking about a slice of that with the peas today for lunch...cornbread on the side.

But now I'm rethinking this. @It Takes Eleven what do you normally have as a side with that? I've got some greens that would be good with that. (I hate cooking them, hate the smell, don't hate eatin' them.) Fried green tomatoes with greens and those patties...hrmm.

We need some more recipes, Because, of the game, and with my daughter, she has landlord trouble.
I'm going with what Krimson mentioned and doing crab cakes today. Here's what I call "the regional difference." It's Sunday, so the area seafood markets won't open until noon. But, it'll be fresh crab. I can't remember exactly how their special works...it's a $1 deal with live blue crabs.

H&J Seafood market ... you'll have to look it up. Nice family, great prices, great service.

Can be filled with anything, deep fried, & dunked in sauce of choice. I’ve done Mexican, Italian, breakfast, typical Chinese, smoked pork, chicken. Great for a crowd on game days.
@rick4bama Like two slices of bread can make a lot of different sandwiches, so can these. As he mentioned, I've done breakfast with these; like a Hot Pocket, so to speak.

I normally use cabbage as my base and then add meat: no coincidence the last was with shrimp.

This comes with a warning. I am a sucker for cooked cabbage. I could make a meal of it...
