Cant i park at the mall and ride a bus to the game and back? I'm not as young as some of you guys and gals. I dont want to have to walk my legs off.
Thanks

Go to uagameday.com. They have listed all the places that the bus will run to and pick up from.

Yes you can park at the mall, but traffic sucks trying to get out from there. I would find another location to get to and from the stadium.

You can park at Central High School for 25 bucks and be 3 blocks from the stadium. Walk straight down 10th Ave and you're there. The money goes to help out the school.

Just for full disclosure since you don't want to walk a bunch, it's more like five blocks or about 3/4 of a mile from Central to the south side of the stadium. Central's on 15th and Bryant Drive would be 10th if it wasn't Bryant Drive.

Over the years, I've waged a guerrilla campaign against the University as they have cut back the stealth and free sites on the campus. I must say they currently have the upper hand. When my buddy from Northport and I go together, his wonderful wife drops us off at 10th avenue and 12th street (near Tutwiler), and then picks us up at 10th avenue and 15th street. I used to ease into the Tutwiler lot and create spaces, and you can still do that if you're willing to get there immediately before game time when the parking attendants are relieved. I've wiggled all over campus getting spots, but the gameday folks have it locked down pretty good. As late as 1990, you could still park on the eastern edge of the Quad and tailgate. When I do drive now, I pay $20 and park where 7th avenue dead ends at the RR track. Some college kids renting the small white house there have a good area to park, never blocks cars and it's a good bit closer (perhaps one-third) than Central. One of them is named Parker, which I found humorous.

I hope you have a great time.

RTR,

Tim

Tim is correct. It is $20 to park at Central and 6 blocks to the stadium to be exact.

Not trying to be a S/A, but I have parked there for years and make that trek every home game. It is the best/quickest way to get out of T-town especially of you are going south or west after the game.

Thanks guys for correcting me. I have only parked at Central High twice so was trying to go from memory. I was thinking it was between the 3-5 block range. Still not a bad spot for the price. As Tim stated, the University has made it tougher to park anywhere on campus for free. I used to drive my Jeep and slide it in anywhere a full sized vehicle wouldn't fit.

I did the park at the mall and ride the bus thing once last year just to try it out. Not to bad over all but one thing that will keep me from doing it again is that the last bus back to the mall leaves one hour after the game is over, so if you want to walk around after the game and check things out you really don't have the time to do it. Yes, the traffic was a big pain leaving from the mall afterwards.

See ya' there. :biggrin_blue:

Seriously if Central is ever full I think I'd have a major stress attack. I really wouldn't know where else to go. I've only parked one other place in 15 years and that was with a pass.
