🧑‍🤝‍🧑 / 🏡 "I legit don’t know who’s more skilled the guy measuring or the one cutting..."

I grew up with that around me all the time. My uncles, dad, cousins, brothers were magicians. My dad and uncles owned constructioncompanies but all started out framing. Well into there sixties they could match that easy. They all said my grandfather was a true master. It’s almost a lost art amongst white and black Americans. Cheaper to pay someone that can circumvent the tax man.

You all know I go on a trip to help build or add on to a church. When I knew I could go and help, I told one of the guys from our church. I can't work on the building. He says why? Because I can measure twice and cut. That cut will be either a little long or a little short. So that's why I work in the kitchen.

About 10 years or so ago a guy I know asked if I'd install flooring in his new place. He'd seen me do it a few times...so, he figures, I know him, he won't be too expensive.

I told the guy if he helped I'd cut fifty bucks off a room; two and a half bills, right? He couldn't read a tape measure.

And, let's face it: flooring is basically five measurements and then a few odds and ends in corners, closets, etc.

The only time I can think of that happening is when I installed the storm doors. There's a cut where you can't make a mistake: I paid and helped them.
