🏈 I hope you don't mind me reposting this but the way you have handled your win tonight is impressive

I posted this on utefans.net earlier and meant it as a total salute to Alabama fans. I hope you don't mind my input but as I've said before I was totally sold on being a fan of the houndstooth after meeting so many of your fans in New Orleans earlier this year. These are quotes from further down the board that show what class 'bama fans have and a little nudge to Utah's little brothers.

Since we were picked to play against 'bama last year I've been hanging out at rolltidebama.com. It's a fun site. One thing I've learned is that there are very few Alabama fans that hate anyone or anything more than Tim Tebow. If you care to go there and go back to early December of last year you'll see how badly they despise Tim Tebow.

I wandered over there this morning to wish them well and after their total beatdown of UF today went back to post my congratulations and see what people were saying. Here are some of the posts they have to say about their opponent. Obviously I know Auburn is their rival but UF is quickly becoming a second rival particularly after last year. Just the subjects so as not to take up too much space.

TIM TEBOW = CLASS
Props to him and his career...

I agree, the guy is a class act.

Tim Tebow all class. CBS the first time showing him crying should have been enough. But showing him the other time wasn't.

I agree, Tim Tebow played his tail off, deserves evrything he has gotten when it comes to praise. No bashing him on this site.

Great career Tebow. RTR

He's a heck of a competitor. I blame the media for his over exposure. Can't fault the guy because they're always sticking a camera in his face. Good luck to him in the Sugar Bowl and at the next level.

Urban's a pretty class act himself.

Tim is a class act and a heckuva competitor. Beating someone of his character and leadership makes this SEC Championship that much sweeter.
Can anyone contrast these posts to any other school that concerns itself about "class"? Can anyone expound on how the Alabama fanbase separates itself as one that is confident in its team, itself and its abilities as opposed to one that has to continually pronounce reasons that it is at least equal to or superior to the top national teams and fans that it claims to be a part of?

Interesting how a top-tier classy, veteran fanbase treats opponents as opposed to one that wants to be in that same tier, wouldn't you say?

RTR!

I'll just say this, and I don't know that I'm answering any question you have, but I think that maybe in an indirect way I can say some things about us.

Let me just say that first and foremost, we have the BEST group of people on the internet on this site. I'm probably biased, but that's the way I feel. Our members are the best because we expect no less from people on this site. We as staff on this site have always preached integrity and honor. Sportsmanship and compassion. Honor and respect for those that deserve it. At times we've displayed these attributes to those who didn't deserve it. But that's what we are here. We're quick to give an "at a boy" or to reward tenacity and sportsmanship. All in all, I can honestly say that I think my job as a staff member on this site is cake, and one of the easiest on the net. We just have good people. Maybe the attitude that permeates the site is due to the staff, and maybe it's due to the quality people that make the site what it is.

Personally, I think it's due to the members here.

To say that people here hate Tebow is a bit of stretch. People here are typical Alabama fans. They hate losing. Tebow caused that losing last year so Tebow is the point of focus. The tip of the spear. He's going to garner the lion's share of the attention and ire from our people. Tebow is a great player and our fans understand that. That's what makes it all the sweeter. To have won a game against an ultimate competitor and person like Tim is just icing on the cake for Alabama fans.

Having said all of that, let me leave you with this. It's a bit of a mixed bag, but I hope that I come out more on the positive side of things in the end.

I'm sick of Tim Tebow. I'm sick of having him rammed down my throat. I'm sick of hearing Gary Danielson call a BAMA game and say something like, "Well.......Tebow would have....", when maybe McElroy didn't make the best decision. I'm tired of watching BAMA games when half the commentary is about Tim Tebow. There's no place for it. It's over done and over played. It's over the top and disrespectful IMHO. I'm sick of Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow on so many levels, but at the same time, I can recognize two things when I see it. (1) The media is the problem, and (2) Greatness when I see it.

As sick as I am of Tim Tebow, had I been fortunate enough to have a little girl, I would have loved for nothing more than to see her marry such an outstanding, upstanding young man.

I'm not sure any of what I said makes sense, and it's kind of a love/hate thing, but that's how I feel.

Well put chopper and I couldn't agree more. Both our members and are staff here are great and what make this forum the best 'Bama forum there is IMO.

To the OP. VERY classy post! U'm humbled by it honestly.

And like chopper I too have a new little girl. And as sick as I am over the Tebow media craze I too wouldn't mind my daughter dating someone that seemed as well grounded as Tim was. But make no mistake about it. I'm also glad to see him leave the SEC this year. Both for the media sake and having to play against him. Like said, it's a love/hate thing.

When Tebow beat us last year, the first thing that came out of my mouth was "I hope Tebow smashes Oklahoma in the title game!"

I am a Bama fan first and foremost, but I think I am a huge SEC fan as well.

But I respect any team and anyone that respects me.

Thanks for the post !

Thanks for the Bama love.

I appreciate the kind words about Alabama's Fan Base and those on this forum. I think we tend to write like our Momma's are looking over our shoulders, which is not a bad thing.

Regarding Tim, its like Coach Saban wrote in his book As Good as You Want to Be, if you want to be a Champion, you have to be a Champion long before you step on the field. Florida may have lost Saturday night, but that young man walked onto the field a Champion and left no less of one.

Well said.

I had a conversation with Darren (Big_Fan) about this game earlier this week. Tebow came up and I was completely in his corner as he will attest.

Frankly, in threads on this very forum I've never taken any shots at the young man. In fact, from the Sugar Bowl on, I'll miss what he brought to UF, the SEC, and football in general.

Was he mentioned a lot, possibly too often? Maybe. But, for the reasons he was mentioned and the alternatives I've enjoyed the exposure he's received.

If he were wearing Crimson, none of the "anti-Tebow" threads would have seen the light of day on Bama forums.

I look forward to the day of seeing him on the sidelines as a coach in the SEC.

Figured I should quickly add a bit of comparative perspective to Shasta's comments, in case you didn't hear about it last weekend. When the Utes lost in OT to BYU, their senior QB said this in his post-game press conference:

“I don’t like Utah. In fact, I hate them. I hate everything about them. I hate their program, their fans. I hate everything. It felt really good to send those guys home.” BYU Quarterback Max Hall said after the game. “I think the whole university and their fans and the organization is classless...

"They didn’t deserve it. It was our turn, and our turn to win. We deserved it. We played as hard as we could tonight. And it felt really good, again, to send them home, to get them out of here, and so it is a game I will always remember."
Keep in mind he said this after he threw the winning TD, gave our LB a cheap-shot in the back as he ran towards the celebration, and spouted off to a sideline reporter about how much he hated Utah. Big words coming from a senior that will never have to face the Utes again. :halo:

So seeing both Bama and Florida fans being classy and giving each other props after a hard-fought game is incredibly refreshing and restores my faith in college football.

If you could draft fantasy baseball teams that matched the quality of this post, Keith, then there would be no reason to play out the season or even have a league.
