| FTBL I hate what football has become these days

No. I didn't say the same thing about Missouri. I said nothing of the sort (and we do have a function here for you to find where, if you choose to disagree here.)

Name one thing that Ole Miss, their offense, and coaching staff has one that's mediocre. You can't. Because, there isn't.

As fast as the hyperbole train is moving I'm surprised you were able to catch up! 😈

Unless I've missed a comment, all that's been said on this forum is "he called a great game" and "he has a great offensive mind." None of these are in dispute.

no dispute that Lane is a offensive minded outstanding coach....and i think will be a very good HC since he has matured into the role rather than been dragged into it...
And ole miss is a very good place for him...

no..i am not spending time dragging back through some old post...
I do remember the conversation...about Missouri....

if nothing about ole ms is mediocre..really?.....they should win a lot of games this year......there were those on the Leach train...you are obviously on the Lane train...
I think they are mediocre at best....
See how the season plays out...

and i know i am pretty slow... If thas the hyperbole( aall thatdamn schooling and still had to look up that word )...train....just a defect
..exaggerated statements or claims not to be taken literally......
I actually didn’t take any literally....more D performances than O way i saw it

moving on ....
I think we have beat the poor animal to death

Did you watch that game?

While it's true Pelini's refusal to back out of their game plan led to how poorly LSU's defense performed, Leach schemed the hell out of LSU that night. His patterns of of mesh, as one example, had them lost.

yep. Watched the game......LSU D was lost ...refused to change....
Slow to ball...poor tackling...as the D was lost last Saturday......
But Leach did catch em good...
Also saw the msu ( Leach) vs KY game....some anyway...
And LSU has 4-5* on D...KY has 2-3 *....
So....just more poor D...but msu O was fun vs lsu...not so much vs KY

i guess...its just how you perceive what you see...same ole ms vs bama

That's not even close to what I said about Ole Miss. I've specifically pointed to their offense after this past weekends game. Leading up to the game, I was pointing out how weak their defense had been.

Just to be clear here. There isn't a reason to call their offense mediocre because there is nothing that backs that up this season. I'd have to stop and look at the numbers to be positive, but I am pretty confident if we looked at total, scoring, passing, and rushing offense production this season Ole Miss will be, at the lowest, third in one of those categories. I pretty well know they're leading in total offense. I know they aren't as high as Bama on scoring offense and probably are trailing Florida by a point or two. Off the top of my head I'd guess Kentucky is leading the way in rushing offense with Ole Miss 10-15 yards behind them (followed by Bama and UGA but not necessarily in that order,) and with passing I know their ahead of Trask at UF, but behind State and Bama.

A week ago I was cautioning against selling A&M short (which a lot were trying to do.) We saw how that ended.

I watched it. Mesh is nothing new for the Air Raid. Not adjusting to it - ever - was all on LSU. The following 2 weeks showed that it was Pelini being a moron more than anything. Arkansas never rushed more than 3 the entire game. Gave up 14. Kentucky's defense gave up zero points.

Leach didn't have to scheme to beat LSU, his most basic concept worked over and over and over and over.

It appears all the great athletes and smart folks are playing on the offensive side of the ball all the great athletes that perhaps aren't so smart are playing on the defensive side of the ball. Pete is taking a beating and maybe he deserves it all but at some point the players have to grasp their assignments and doesn't appear close at Alabama. Coach Bryant used to say "he looked like he was out to practice early" when an offensive player made a breakaway play. Every team we play seems to be in that mode.

I've been told I have an uncanny ability to remember things like this: conversations about teams but specifically what I've said about them. You saying "I said the same thing about the Mizzou is patently false."

I agree with you. Don't spend time looking because you won't find what you're looking for here.

When people were talking about the score of the game I said, "I think 14 may be gracious." They scored 19 as a result of a garbage time TD with :04 second left in the game. There's nothing there to support your assertion.

In the G,B, or U thread I said nothing comparable to what you've asserted.
  • I mentioned the missed call by Sanders.
  • You said UM was in the bottom of the SEC and I said "I wouldn't go there yet, we don't know enough." I followed that by saying they were a scrappy team who played with a lot of intensity in that game.
  • I credited the LB play to what the DL did with their assignments.
  • I mentioned Roundtree is a guy we'll see on Sunday's. I have no reason to say otherwise, even now.
Where do you find anything there that's similar to what I said about Ole Miss?

If he's calling the plays and he's calling them to exploit the defense and what they're are giving, how is that not scheming the hell out of that defense? I'd agree with you if they were lining up in the I and running it up the middle every down. That's not a lot of scheme. Costello hit 10 different receivers that night: a result of Leach's play calling and scheme. I can't see it otherwise because of how diverse they were.

I can't agree that he called a great game.... Simply because there was a lack of JET SWEEEEEEPS! :D
The one play where they hit the leading fullback with the jump pass—a play basically out of their jumbo package set—was one I'd not seen before. Like I said a few days ago, he rans some variations on some plays that were basic, but the variations were things I'd never seen before.

if you mean...the jump pass is one uhave never seen from OLE Ms. ...ok...
Ifnever seen before...ever..u have missed some games...I remember some..one from Tebow that worked...one that didn’t

That's not what I said and you just quoted me.

The lead fullback in the jumbo getting the reception in the middle. That's something I've not seen before further emphasized by saying "seeing variations off of plays we've seen before." {sic} There is video of the team meeting where you see their offensive coordinator tell him not to block but run through the line and keep going...a great call, with a little twist on a play we've seen for a few years with the Bama jumbo packages.

didnt look... got tofinish my deck...so dont have time...

OM has been at or near bottom of SEC....i said...but we shall see how season plays out......probably a 5-5 at best....( should be 0-3...except missed pat by KY)..that's mediocre....at best....

you may not have defended missouri...but you did qualify their talent....or something...if you say youdidnt..ok....i have these memory moment..brought on by to much reading and watching football.....( and age)....maybe the bud lights ...maybe my kids...other worldly things.. take your word for it...

Quotes require “...” so...no I didn’t... referenced...yep.... quoted..no..
variations with a lot of plays...happens...period...doesn’t make a genius...

any.. @TerryP.... .roll tide...

The diversity in offensive design compared to what Ole Miss did is not even comparable. Miss St ran mesh over and over, and also hit wheel routes off mesh. In terms of creativity it doesn't approach what Lane did. Leach called 2 passing concepts over and over. I see your point, but nothing LSU did required Leach to think beyond play #2.

No doubt. I'm not comparing the two game plans. I am comparing the two coaches and plays being called. Both did good jobs in their respective games.

I probably stand alone here as one enjoying watching the game Lane and Lebby were calling. (Lebby did a good job with UCF as well and I had wondered how well these two would mesh when game time came around. A lot of Briles seen there this past weekend.)

I definitely admired the gameplan Lane and Lebby had. This was Lane when he's engaged and is at a genius level. He's not always there (Arkansas 2014, Ole Miss 2015, for example). Lebby's influence and the Baylor stuff has taken Lane's offense to the next level. It's impressive, and they have tremendous skill players and a QB who is very mobile and played amazingly.

Stetson Bennett won't be at Corral's level.
