A few random thoughts on the news...
-People (not here, but in the media and such) saying they were, "shocked by the news!ā Really? Shocked? The smoke has been out there for a while, not the details, but just like everything else thatās happened to him (and Ole Miss), the script was written. I get fans being shocked (to an extent), but these in the media who were shocked are showing they are either horrible at their jobs, have terrible sources, or are naive to the point that I hope they donāt get an e-mail from a Nigerian prince.
-Along the same lines some, there are other losers in this whole scenario (other than his family of course which is the biggest loser and I honestly feel awful for his children). Paul Finebaum, Neal McCready, and Ross Bjork... I canāt figure out who is the biggest loser here. Probably Bjork, then Finebaum, then McCready. Bjork is pure trash, and how heās stayed afloat during this is nothing short of amazing. Finebaum bought Freezeās crap hook line and sinker from what I could tell on Tv. I guess if he can get the treble hook out of this throat, he will be on the airwaves backtracking today, then again, I wonāt know for sure since Iāll opt for no radio before Iāll opt for Finebaum radio. McCready... another guy who either toted the water for Freeze or was just too stupid to realize he was being used this entire time. The guy already had zero credibility, but he put all his chips on the table in recent months and went all in. The only reason he isnāt more of a loser than the other 2 is because despite his denials that heās an Ole Miss fanboy, heās an Ole Miss fanboy. Poor guy just wanted to believe Freeze probably, which is what makes him a shitty journalist.
-Ole Miss folks saying this will help with their NCAA punishment... I donāt see that happening. If anything, it may make it worse. Ole Miss had a chance to can Freeze and appease the NCAA some, they didnāt do it (looking at you Bjork). They admitted yesterday in front of the world that they didnāt force him out because of the NCAA stuff. Why should the NCAA look at this and say, Ole Miss did the right thing? Nothing has changed. It just shows that Ole Miss was in more disarray and had more going on in seceret than most anyone believed. Ole Miss just cut him loose now because they had to. More info is going to come out, and itās going to get worse and worse. I just donāt see the NCAA saying, āWell, they got rid of him for doing other highly unethical stuff that we were not even aware of so I guess they learned their lesson, letās go easier on them now...ā
-Itās amazing how all this unfolded. Houston Freaking Nutt. Once upon a time brought down himself by a state issued cell phone. Guess he filed that one away for another day. Just amazing.
-Having Ole Miss be good these last few years, IMO, was good for Alabama. Despite the losses, I think it made Bama better. They also made the West tougher for LSU and auburn. It will be nice to have that easy win back again in the coming years like we used to have pre-Freeze, but I enjoyed them giving other teams in the West fits at times. Freeze was/is the very definition of a hypocrite, though some of us never bought his faux Bible thumping to begin with (looking at you now, auburn), but he could flat out coach some offense, and I think Saban respected that.
