šŸˆ Hugh Freeze Resigns

I lived in Oxford a few years and I don't know or had heard chit about any escort service in that area (not that I was looking:D ). If he got one from Memphis then I say he's either batchit crazy or extremely brave. :notall:

You know I'd pay real money to see Les Miles coaching at Ole Miss and routinely hand it to LSU. Two teams (in their division no less) with one of their former head coaches just whipping up on them year in and year out. I crack a smile just thinking about it.

A few random thoughts on the news...

-People (not here, but in the media and such) saying they were, "shocked by the news!ā€ Really? Shocked? The smoke has been out there for a while, not the details, but just like everything else that’s happened to him (and Ole Miss), the script was written. I get fans being shocked (to an extent), but these in the media who were shocked are showing they are either horrible at their jobs, have terrible sources, or are naive to the point that I hope they don’t get an e-mail from a Nigerian prince.

-Along the same lines some, there are other losers in this whole scenario (other than his family of course which is the biggest loser and I honestly feel awful for his children). Paul Finebaum, Neal McCready, and Ross Bjork... I can’t figure out who is the biggest loser here. Probably Bjork, then Finebaum, then McCready. Bjork is pure trash, and how he’s stayed afloat during this is nothing short of amazing. Finebaum bought Freeze’s crap hook line and sinker from what I could tell on Tv. I guess if he can get the treble hook out of this throat, he will be on the airwaves backtracking today, then again, I won’t know for sure since I’ll opt for no radio before I’ll opt for Finebaum radio. McCready... another guy who either toted the water for Freeze or was just too stupid to realize he was being used this entire time. The guy already had zero credibility, but he put all his chips on the table in recent months and went all in. The only reason he isn’t more of a loser than the other 2 is because despite his denials that he’s an Ole Miss fanboy, he’s an Ole Miss fanboy. Poor guy just wanted to believe Freeze probably, which is what makes him a shitty journalist.

-Ole Miss folks saying this will help with their NCAA punishment... I don’t see that happening. If anything, it may make it worse. Ole Miss had a chance to can Freeze and appease the NCAA some, they didn’t do it (looking at you Bjork). They admitted yesterday in front of the world that they didn’t force him out because of the NCAA stuff. Why should the NCAA look at this and say, Ole Miss did the right thing? Nothing has changed. It just shows that Ole Miss was in more disarray and had more going on in seceret than most anyone believed. Ole Miss just cut him loose now because they had to. More info is going to come out, and it’s going to get worse and worse. I just don’t see the NCAA saying, ā€œWell, they got rid of him for doing other highly unethical stuff that we were not even aware of so I guess they learned their lesson, let’s go easier on them now...ā€

-It’s amazing how all this unfolded. Houston Freaking Nutt. Once upon a time brought down himself by a state issued cell phone. Guess he filed that one away for another day. Just amazing.

-Having Ole Miss be good these last few years, IMO, was good for Alabama. Despite the losses, I think it made Bama better. They also made the West tougher for LSU and auburn. It will be nice to have that easy win back again in the coming years like we used to have pre-Freeze, but I enjoyed them giving other teams in the West fits at times. Freeze was/is the very definition of a hypocrite, though some of us never bought his faux Bible thumping to begin with (looking at you now, auburn), but he could flat out coach some offense, and I think Saban respected that.

Unbelievable...

Is this legit? I can't find it in any news stories or his Twitter feed.

I'm currently binge watching Last Chance U season 2 on Netflix... something just stood out to me kind of randomly. Dakota Allen, one of their elite linebacker recruits (think he ended up going back to Texas Tech), was talking to their advisor and said, "I think I'm love with Ole Miss... or at least the women there..." and kind of smirked.

There are rumors now that Freeze was actually lining up escorts for recruits... just a thought.

Rumors are rumors for a reason. I seriously doubt the head coach of a major college football program is the one calling to set up escorts for recruits. I haven't checked, but I don't think there are a lot of escort services operating in Oxford, MS. If you're bringing them in from Memphis, that leaves a trail of evidence that is hard to cover up.

And, Ole Miss does have an over-share of attractive women - especially when you compare it to Last Chance U's market.

another thing about pocket dialing...

today's phones need the touch of a finger to call, or even the phone, period. i don't see any way he "pocket dialed" ANYONE with the phone in his pocket.

and unless ole miss is the cheapest school in the country, and i mean cheap in the fact that they don't spend money they have, coaches just don't have pones with buttons on them. they all have iphones or a galaxy or something along those lines. and none of those phones have button that would actually let you do anything on the phone.

all he's doing is panicking and saying the first thing he can think of, which is an old excuse that was viable maybe 10-15 years ago.

and all i can think about is him having to face his wife and kids with that information....and i laugh.

Actually, there is one reputable service here in Memphis. No, I don't know from experience guys!!!! The man that runs it also does sports handicap and I have "investigated" him.

I can't imagine they hire anyone of substance before the NCAA hands down whatever penalty they will hand down. They are going to have to tread water for a few seasons.

Reports from USA Today are the number was a Detroit area code but it is "associated with several Web sites advertising a female escort based in Tampa". They also say "the records do not show Freeze immediately redialing a different or similar number, nor do other calls to a 313 number appear in the phone records covering the days Mars requested". So it had to be him calling that number on purpose.

There is rampant speculation that this is related to recruiting and not to him personally wanting a hooker.
