If schools go through with these big NIL offers when they officially go into writing and those offers don’t pass through the clearinghouse, schools could be on the hook to pay players what they were promised through the rev-share budget. That money is subject to the cap, putting schools at risk of the “harsh penalties” Cohen mentioned for going over the cap.



It could create a dilemma where schools have to either significantly change their offers when they go into writing, or risk them not making it through the clearinghouse. Based on what Cohen and Freeze said, Auburn wants to avoid that potential dilemma entirely.



“I’m here to tell you, we’re gonna do this the right way,” Cohen said. “We’re gonna be honest, we’re gonna be forthright, and we’re looking very much forward to August the first and dates beyond.”



Cohen was asked directly what happens if after Aug. 1 it becomes clear that other schools took the right approach and Auburn didn’t. Cohen responded by saying they would “cross that mountain when we get there.” While there seems to be confidence in that approach at Auburn, there’s always risk associated with taking a hard stance in what seems to still be a fluid situation.

So basically Auburn is screwed. There is no reason for them to be in this position. So Alabama played the long game and it benefited them. So If I read it correctly, It sounds like Auburn, Michigan, Texas could struggle with this similar situation after July 1.

I don't see Auburn redeeming themselves this late in cycle. You need to have a momentum going into fall camp because once fall camp starts, it puts extra burden on coaching staff and on top of that game planning. As a school in SEC, You can't be heading into July with 6 commits when at least top 100 teams has over 15 commits by now. Not only that, but you also can't bank your strategy on flipping players from other school. They put themself in a bad situation and wasn't prepared.

Getting a top 30 class this cycle is the absolute best case for auburn right now. its not looking good for them at all, and if freeze can't do the one thing he was lauded for..... then what's the point of him being there anymore? He hasnt produced shit on the field. If they have another bad year(it's happening), he's gone.

There's a 'informal' list of different quotes, misquotes, misspellings, etc. over on TI called the TI lexicon. "Raped" versus "raked" is on of those examples...people bring it up for old laughs.
