🏈 How many yards does Javy have left...

I believe...

172 to break the record.

He has 1590 and Welker had 1761. Javier didn't get any against Miss State. I can think of a few plays where a few penalties which have probably kept him from attaining this - but I'm sure Welker missed out on a few yards due to similar penalties.

Yep, unfortunately he has been kicked away from or called fair catch almost exclusively since then. He would have gotten a few without the penalty the other night, but such is life.

The interesting thing to me is all the fair catches. This from a guy that probably despises the thought of not running with it. I admire his sacrifice to fair catch many of them. Sometimes it's very unselfish to throw that arm up. Then again, it seems like he could have made a run on quite a few of those.

I'm not saying Javy is gun-shy by any means. I'm just a little surprised (not complaining) that he is playing a little on the cautious side. Help me out on this one if you see differently.

I'm sure the caution is from the coaching. Bama needs a big return from Javy a lot less than they need a mistake from him. Bama's defense is just too good for the special teams to give the opponent any help. Bama has seen enough of that on kickoff return defense.

Maybe Javy just isn't getting good enough blocking to want to run with the punt. We really need to take a good look at kick-off and punt special teams at he end of the year.

Dude.

I realize that might have been where your mind went immediately, but look at the numbers before you put out conjecture.

In both aspects, we are ranked in the top 15 in the nation. All Javy.

LSU leads the SEC right now in punt returns largely due to one being taken back 93 yards for a TD. We are just over two yards behind them. You know what really throws that stat off...LSU has returned 22 punts compared to our 31...we freakin' JAM on punt returns.

Kick returns? Florida leads the SEC. We are in fifth place and less than two yards behind them. But, that still translates to top 15 nation wide.

While our kick coverage has been questionable, our other special teams play is among the best in the nation in every aspect.

He prolly woulda had 30+ on one return against MSU if not for that stupid fair catch penalty the refs threw on him. i got a feelin Javy is gonna break loose in the next few weeks.

Maybe the MOCS will fall victim to a couple of big Javy returns.

Glancing at their stats they rank 63rd in FCS for net punting (out of 109). And 94th in Punt Return defense, but they have only punted 10 times giving up one TD.

He is not scared to run the ball. He should have fair caught one this weekend but he didn't and got his ass plowed. I thought it was funny myself, he jumped up like he didn't skip a beat. Remember that punt return ?

Yeah I would've prolly been mad that he fielded it at all if he wasn't as sure handed as he is. Javy def. has no fear.

Woa, you may be reading in a bit to much into my post. The first sentance was meant that Javy isn't getting much time or room to retrun punts and he has to fair catch them.
The second sentance had to do with tackling on kickoff and punt coverage. We are allowing way to many yards. Just an observation, not an attack...Sorry to have misled you. I just didn't feel like typing a huge paragraph at that moment and had a run-on thought.:a:
