You're in the right place, Goon. Glad you came by.
So what are your initial thoughts going into this one?
Well, my heart says that we match up well going against Bama's pro-style offense and our defense won't do as bad as they did against UK. The UGA game points are misleading, UGA scored so much due to special teams miscues that put them inside our 40 to start drives multiple times (which has been fixed as of late).
Offensively, we have a lot of weapons to work with that may be known or unknown to you.
Obviously, Stephen Garcia will be key to any chance of a Gamecocks victory. Bama is going to bring the heat from their 3-4 defense, and Garcia HAS to know where to throw the ball behind them.
At receiver we have many capable options from a previous #1 WR recruiting class. We have more height than speed though but they run great routes. These receivers IMO are Tori Gurley, Alshon Jeffery, Moe Brown (only true deep threat starting), Jason Barnes, and Dion Lecorn. That gives us 5 viable options and hopefully at least 2 can put pressure on Bama's secondary.
At tight end we have an All-SEC capable one in Weslye Saunders, the guy looks like an OL and runs like a WR (possession WR lol). But, despite being so big, he is a marginal blocker. No other true threats to state here.
I made a big write up on our OL here:

Defensively, Norwood and Cliff Matthews will have to come up big in this game to put Bama in bad 3rd down situations. UK did a great job of putting themselves in great 3rd down situations (3rd and 1, 2, etc.) We can't allow Alabama to be able to pound the ball to get the first down on 3rd down because more than likely they will be able to do so at will.
That being said, if we can put you guys in bad situations, we have one of the most talented young secondaries in the NCAA and I feel pretty good about getting you to 4th down. C.C. Whitlock proved last weekend he was as good as advertised and Gilmore is shutdown, Bama wanted him for a reason. Culliver has all the ability in the world, and Darian Stewart hits like a mac truck from the SS position.
