🏈 Guess The Team... After the first game.

Just asking a question. Looks like people are just wanting to know what you are trying to say. I don't doubt our team has talent and can get better. I just hope they have the determination to finish and not give up. Really hope this season does not end like it did last year.
You asked the question: How do you think this team did after their first game?
Answer: They went 11-2.

And would've gone 14-0 were it not for a fluke! But I can't dwell on what could have been .. even though I do .. a lot ..

Right now we are talking about last year. @mrchase thanks for your post, I see where you are trying to do here too. We need to get back to the present now. Let's talk about the up coming game as in FAI now.

You really said that. Bama didn't make it last year. Those are the numbers against a team that lost to UCLA 42-12 in a bowl game at the end of the year. That was the Bama team that finished the year with two losses.

This year Bama's offense with Sims will become one dimensional, incapable of threatening deep. Teams will successfully stack the box taking away what they do well, run the ball.

Many of us saw Bama early last year and concluded they would lose two or three games. Had they played the SEC title game, three would have been correct. We were roundly criticized. With Sims at QB, I see the same scenario this year. The team has a different ailment, but the disease - if not cured - is fatal for championship hopes.

What a complete load of crap! The long ball isn't THE determining factor of championship teams, so quit alluding to such nonsense. AJ was much better at the long ball, sure (lost 2 games last year as you noted), but it wasn't McElroy's strong suite until later in to 2010 (lost three games there too). Long ball's are a nice complement to winning football but not the biggest point. Do you know what is another talent for a QB, the ability for the QB to scramble & run... but no, forget that, it is of zero consequence. IF any 'Bama QB just plays ball control & good decision making, that is the BIGGEST winning issue for QB's at 'Bama.

Another thing that folks keep saying that in order for 'Bama to win against high powered offense is another high powered offense (therefore, there is no way Sims can get it done). This too is complete horse crap! The best way to stop high powered offense is good defense, ball control offense (no turnovers & great 3rd down conversions) & a dominating offensive line, that primarily runs the ball. The 2008 & 2009 Florida Gators were arguable one of the best offenses to play the game (they had dang good defense too w/ C Strong). What made the difference in the winning game was that the defense made the biggest stops & interestingly enough, the QB made some key scrambling runs! One, great throw to C Peek was the highlight of McElroys throws. Ultimately, the QB took care of the dang ball.

Oh, as a reminder, the only 'Bama team that went undefeated under CNS had a first year starter QB that just made good decisions & was critical at 3rd down conversions (be damned the long ball). This concept forces the entire team to do their job all the time, instead of relying on some hot handed gun-slinger. And AJ never went undefeated too, despite his long ball.

Well technically, the post WAS about last year and how we did last season despite a slow first game! I was just emoting :-) :violin:

Perhaps that kind of production, or better, can be accomplished despite a "slow" start this year as well.

I'll say this, I think people are quick to judgement to think that we know anything about this team and how they may or may not produce over the course of this season. Mrchase's point about the VA Tech game last year is very telling for me. Looking at last year's first game as an isolated event, does that look/sound like an 11-2 team to you? 11-1 in the SEC? I don't think so! But we did it. We started slow, had a few bumps in the road, but we picked up steam. Remember the TAMU game? Remember LSU? We did pretty damn decently despite that slow start! And we might do the same this year. They may yet surprise us. Let's not lose faith, let's remember that it's one game out of 12 (maybe even 13, 14, or 15!) and that we gotta take it a week at a time. Deep breaths!

You really just suggested Alabama would have lost to Missouri last year... I think its time for you to step away from football bro you no longer can look at it with one ounce of logic. Some folks may look at everything in crimson colored glasses but you're looking thru pitch black ones.

My point was.... if you want to take the first game performance or lack of, and use that to determine how the rest of the season is going to go....then why even bother practicing or playing the game. I for one did not conceed the season because the offense didnt show up in game one last year. The offense was trash in that game... defense and Christion Jones won that game. The offense sure didn't dissapoint the following game. So maybe there were different players playing against A&M.

Present tense....

The defense gave up one touchdown. 1.......
Yes the secondary was beat on some deep throws.

Yes Sims missed on some throws,
There were also some drops.

We judge WVU on what they did last year and say that we should have destroyed them.
But what sense does it make to judge them on last year when its not the same team that took the field.... Look at Auburn.

New year, new team, new players, in new places.

Say Coker plays against FAU. Throws for 300 yds.... and throws a nice deep ball. Should we appoint him starter. I ask that because i fail to see where Sims did something to where he should not be starting. Im not the coach and im not at the practices. I assume they know something that I dont, therefore Sims got the start, played the whole game, and did damn good.

The same week, the returning Heisman winner threw 2 INT's...... are they doomed on offense also?

Why are youse guys bringing all deese negative energies?

^^^^^^ THIS

hahaha, damn it. I knew that too, guess old habits caught me.

Funny side note. You mentioned the line from the song, "They got a name for the winners in the world, I,I want a name when I lose..." When I was a kid when this song came out, I thought that line was, "I want a lay when I lose..." Pretty funny. I thought he was trying to say that he should at least get a little somethin', somethin' when he loses. :) Obviously, this was long before internet lyrics websites!
