I know we will possibly be hearing alot about these two leading up to next season. I was asked today by a Barner buddy if I thought AJ had a chance at starting....my responce was...absolutely he has a chance....just not much of one. I cant see taking a QB that has went undefeated and won a NC and placing him on the bench.....Insane would be my first thought. He is convinced we will have a controversy problem....and I couldnt disagree more....I think AJ is very smart and patient...atleast thats how it appears from the outside looking in. Any thoughts ?

Greg will start but, you will see plenty of AJ next year in 4th quarters or maybe even whole 2nd halfs. I wouldn't be suprised if we get into another game like the Tennessee game and AJ has played some mop ups that AJ may get a shot when greg is flat.

Yeah, kinda hard to de-thrown Greg next year in my opinion after winning a NC and being undefeated. I don't care how good AJ is, Greg has game time experience, big game experience.

I see AJ and Phillip battling for 2011.

Greg is good, let no one tell you different. He just needs time to throw. AJ isnt starting over an undefeated fifth year returning starter.

Dont be surprised if McElroy has a big year next year though........well if our OC allows it and we can stop tipping our plays.

<-- Is still raging about what occured in the NC game. Only the W stopped a complete tragedy.

greg mcelroy.. one number sums him up this season... i know, your thinking 14 wins.. BUT, it's 4 interceptions. that is how you win championshipd at bama. he ended up with a 140 qb rating too.. oh and ingram had a 0.0 qb rating.. hehe, i guess we'll let him slide though

Tell your barn buddy he wishes they could have a QB contreversey. A QB that can compete in the SEC would be nice, for starters. That is their only hope...for us to have so many great atheletes that it creates internal conflicts. Too bad our kids are smarter than that. Dark days are upon the boogers, and they don't even see it.

Not to hijack the thread, but it really could be possible that the returning Heisman Trophy winner could be unseated at his position.

The real fight in the Spring will probably be Ingram trying to ward off Richardson. At the least I would suspect the carries between the two next year will be more balanced, thus harming Ingram's chance at a repeat.

Now, THAT is depth and internal competition.

I dont think Ingram will be "unseated" but I do think there is little to no chance he will repeat next year simply because I think him and T-Rich will both be going over 1,000.

I'd be fine with AJ taking over. McElroy hasn't showed me much in the way of actually being able to make a play. He definitely protects the ball which is crucial.

Must not have watched the Florida game then I'm guessing?

Anyways, I think it speaks volumes for AJ for him to have climbed the ranks to backup, and even more volumes that the staff would be willing to throw away his redshirt and put him in if Greg went down in the NC game.
