šŸˆ Grading Greg Byrne

No, it's the HC, he's on the O side, doesn't use a FB, sends TE into the pattern (which excited us preseason until we couldn't protect), ran toss sweeps with extreme reluctance, like it was a bad thing to have a back more than three yards off the ball.
Here's something that pisses me off, Tim. Everywhere you see "it's year three. Judge him on year three."

What was Shula's year three? Or DuBose? Stallings and Saban? Polor opposites. Perkins and Curry in year three.

It's year four.

Y'all make this way to hard. It will come down to wins/losses compared to the importance of that sport historically. We know what drives everything at Bama. Byrne would probably survive if the first coach post CNS was not successful but he would be on the clock for the 2nd hire. Lets hope it does not come to that and CKD shows a significant improvement year 2

Now if this is truly a NIL issue not sure what to do other than find a creative way to generate more NIL money somehow.

you're narrowing it down to Football only, and I once again said that wasn't fair to assess his legacy at Alabama.

So..... I don't think it's fair when he has done this:
  • University of Alabama (2017–Present):
    • Football: Kalen DeBoer (2024), hired to succeed Nick Saban.
    • Men's Basketball: Nate Oats (2019), hired from Buffalo.
    • Baseball: Rob Vaughn (2023), hired from Maryland.
    • Gymnastics: Ashley Johnston (2022).
    • Baseball: Brad Bohannon (2017).
Revenues: he implemented "The Crimson Standard", a 10-year $600 million initiative focusing on facility renovations and unfractured at Alabama.
Renovated Mal Moore Atheletic Facility, built Golf facility.

Revenue Generation: Under his leadership, Alabama has consistently broken records for licensing revenue and established a top-tier NIL program.
Let us be reminded by what Greg said about NIL: https://www.wvtm13.com/article/alab...-and-the-future-of-alabama-athletics/67989411

I'm still struggling to understand why we feel the need to judge Bryne based on CKD and football program. This does not make sense.

That...is...soooo....generous. A- Omg.
Did you remember the running stats. 123rd out of 132 ( or something). Minus yards vs uga...blown out in 2 of last 3 games games. (So Oklahoma sucked worse than us)
Made cfp because of being bama....period
Thats not A- ...sorry. ... much futher down the alphabet...much.
That’s fine. If you disagree, we can certainly debate.

I think it was impressive that CKD found a way to beat our three rivals this season. Two of them on the road.

I also think it’s impressive that his team went into Athens and got a win.

Did they stink some too? Of course they did. That’s why it’s an A- and not an A.

But? The goal was for year two to be a playoff team.

He did that. He made the seccg. He won a game in the playoffs too. What the hell else do we want? That’s a pretty dang good season. Obviously, I want championships too, but it’s not realistic typically in year two. NIL changes a ton in terms of building, but we all just figuring that out…….

Year three, to me, continue beating our rivals, get to the seccg and have a chance to win it, win two playoff games. That’s another improvement.

As the football and basketball teams go, the AD goes. If they fail? He fails.

Basketball stinks currently. There’s still plenty of time for that team to figure it out and make a run of some sort.

But, I wouldn’t say basketball is a failure by any means. CNO has taken our basketball team to heights it’s never experienced. I’m afraid others are going to notice soon and pluck him away eventually.

Auburn and LSU sucked this year though. Both were dumpster fires. I think a lot of focus in beating those two is a little much. And then we lost to a team worse than even both of them. Winning is better than losing of course, but I'm not talking trash to their fans when those games were closer than they should have been. I was at the LSU game, it was a boring game.
