Remember that Title IX requires the school's athletics programs have a number of male and female students enrolled that is proportional to their overall representation in the student body. You can’t just eliminate a sport or team.

There's talk in the revenue proposals that the number of scholarships for men's and women be equal. Soccer, volleyball, and programs like softball to balance out things ...

One thing I can't see being avoided. A school like Stanford having to drop programS. As in, more than ten. I don't see how they can afford NIL as well as so many Olympic sports.

See the one in bold. I can see them getting cut. It's not just Bama. I think SEC as a whole have to decide which sports to cut together.

Who says any school must drop programs? They may just bite the bullet.

Do you see University's making a decision to keep a program which they can't support (NIL) and also can't afford? Watch the regulations passed be a "one shoe fits all" model where a school like Georgia Southern is allowed to pay a football player X amount, but can't afford to play that amount.

Hypothetical numbers: If they allow all FBS schools a cap of $10, and $8 of that goes to revenue sports, what do they do with the remaining $2? It'll go to programs where the schools have already invested money, right?

@Justneedme81 one of the reasons I didn't point to Swimming and Diving, Tennis, or Track and Field were the facilities. When Coach Moore started the initial fund raising drive for BDS we saw some of that money go to the renovation of the aquatic center and the Gambril pool; finished in 2019 I believe. Renovate, then squash the program? I don't know the exact date Parker-Haun was finished. I know the goal was the fall of '21. Raze a program whose facilities are less than four years old?

And any sport that isn't under the SEC flag would likely be the first to go...

Bama used to compete in the Big12. In August the SEC announced it was adding Rowing to the other 21 sports under the SEC umbrella (it made the 13th women's sport.) Bama joined three other teams (OU, TX, and UT) for the inaugural season. To me, that seems like it would be first on the chopping block for UA. (It's not like the practice 'field' cost a lot of money.)

Alabama golf has more success in the professional ranks than any sport other than football. And, percentage wise, it may rival football.

The chances of golf being dropped are as high as softball and gymnastics: ain't gonna happen.
All golfers probably agree withyou...non with me...
Of course its not getting dropped...chance of any get dropped is very high..

There are many, many schools that can’t afford to pay NIL - for any sport. Why does that mean they have to drop sports? D2 and D3 schools can’t afford to pay NIL but they still have sports.

To compete with other D2....D3 schools ......though...
Funny if paying ....or not...a state income tax is another metric for a player choosing a school to attend n play for...thats ridiculous in itself

The implementation of revenue sharing that's coming on the heels of what we're seeing with NIL's foundation being lain.

When revenue sharing passes Title IV comes into play.

I need to edit the title of the thread...its a bit off the mark.

I feel that even with upgrades having already taken place for 11-15, these sports very likely fall on the chopping block
