🏈 Glen Harbin?

Redshirted.

Just my speculation, but based on recruiting and what we look like at the DE position I think he's going to be found in the speed rush type of DE. I look at him and see another Zo Washington/ Deaderick type of end.

Just speculation...

a speed rush type of DE, like Washington and Deaderick?? :headscratch: didn't know they could be categorized as such.

I do see what you are saying - but I also think the jury is still out on Washington in that role. I should have used the word "mold," somwhere in that reply considering I was referring more to his size.

A more detailed response would be getting into the responsibilities of a DE in a 3-4 scheme...and considering it's not a scheme you are a fan of I won't waste anyones time.;)

He is not a guy that will contribute in the near future at this time. Thats not a bad thing and most players dont contribute until they are upperclassmen. Harbin was recruited because of his athletic ability and he is still learning the game. He should be fine down the road.

well, as i understand it, the responsibilities of a DE in a 3-4 doesn't include speed rushing, which made your comment even more puzzling to me. this is the first time i've heard you or anyone else call a DE in a 3-4 a "speed rusher." the speed, or lack thereof, of the aforementioned ends is its own matter.

and considering it's not a scheme you are a fan of I won't waste anyones time.;)

haha, hey now, i never said i wasn't a fan of it. i just questioned its utility against the spread offenses. lo and behold, which two teams ended up beating us last year? and you heard Saban in the post-Sugar Bowl presser admitting that he would have to change how he defends against spread offenses in the future. i do admit though that you can blame those two losses on additional factors, not only on the favorable matchup that those two offenses had with our defensive personel.
