Haven't said much about the game this week.... mostly because of travel and time issues this week. But in part, because I wasn't real sure how I felt about it. I could point to a lot of areas... individual matchups, stats, and trends that really favor Alabama in this game (maybe the best of which, the game is in Tuscaloosa) and would tell you that The Tide should win this one, perhaps really comfortably. And I hope they do. But there is stuff I just can't seem to shake as we approach today's kickoff. The absence of Robinson and Lawson are 2 huge holes on Bama's defense on a day that they can ill afford any. On offense, Milroe's engine runs its best when he's full of confidence, and I think he's running on empty right now. It's up to him, his supporting cast, and the staff to try and rectify that early in this game. But to be blunt, I'm not sure if this staff and team have it in them. The Vandy and OU games both caught me off guard a bit, they obviously caught this Bama team off guard as well. I'm not making the same mistake with auburn. Even early in the year, I said they were better than they were playing. They've dealt with many of the same issues as Bama... Inconsistent QB play, mind boggling game plans, some very costly turnovers, etc. But when they play closer to their potential, they are a pretty good football team who could beat anyone in the SEC, IMO. Question remains, do they catch this Alabama team off guard for the 3rd time this season? If so, the season ends on a very sour note for ALabama later today. If not, Alabama can make a statement, at least on some levels. Questions will still remain heading into a very active off-the-field bowl season, but at least some sune would break through the cloud of negativity that's currently building over the program.
