🏈 FSU immediate reactions thread

They're not and I would say let's hope so so we don't have to hear this anymore but even if he loses 9 games at his new team I'm sure 1 on here will say he would've won at Bama
You know how you can just tell when someone is gonna be a great coach? We saw it in Kirby, saw it in Day, saw it in lanning, saw it in Freeman, he's one of those guys. And I will die on that hill until proven otherwise.

You can be a great coach without being a great head coach. DeBoer's resume suggests great coach more than Schumann's and he may still be but too many with emotional reactions are going a bit overboard with suggestions. You know as well as I do that bama isn't changing coaches this year unless DeBoer decides to quit.

I never saw that in Ryan Day. I'm still not sold on him. He has some very loyal assistants, and I think nonce Hartline and Johnson bolt, he'll see a challenge.

My feelings on Schumann predates what happened yesterday. I've been high on Schumann for years.... and will continue to be high on him. But.... yes, yesterday amplified my feelings on this immensely.

He was given the keys just like DeBoer and then went and bought a $20M roster. Still can't beat Michigan, so I'm still left wondering where he has put his stamp on the program.
He had great seasons prior to last year. In 2022, he was very close to winning a national championship. And I believe he's won 10+ games every year(excluding 2020) since he's been there. we have different opinions, but I say he's proved it.

Serious question, how many 9-3 8-4 type seasons does he get. I'm not on the fire him now train but I do wonder what the financial cost to mediocre seasons ratio is.
Last year and this year. Period

Another 8-4 season with a losses to FSU, LSU, Georgia, UT and or Auburn and that seats gonna be on fire for 2026. Same with the portal.

Right now. No way I’m picking bama against any of the rest of those teams. South Carolina, Missouri and Vandy won’t be push overs either.

I’m prepping my mind for a 6-6, 5-7 type season really.

If we go 6-6 or 5-7 I just can't imagine him being the head coach next year, despite the buyout.

I'm not saying your wrong on him but I believe Byrne hired someone he felt that way about and he had a lot more evidence than a gut feeling. Schumann may be the next Saban but it's more likely that he won't. He could also be the next Dubose, we won't know until he's a head coach. I'm of the opinion a school like Alabama shouldn't hire coordinators because there is no way to know what you're getting as a head coach.

I'm not asking he come in and be the next Saban, I don't think anyone will recreate what he did for a very long time. All I ask for in a head coach is that he get our guys ready to play every week at a high level, disciplined, fundamentally sound every snap, our communication be on point pre snap, just don't let us be unprepared for a game like we were Saturday, or against Oklahoma, Vandy, or Michigan. That's the shit that I can't stand man, coming into a game and looking completely lost the entire game. Not knowing their calls, gap assignments, blocking assignments, etc... Just beating yourself before you can even win the game. And have our guys play with enough heart that they don't fucking quit mid play. There's a ton more id talk about, but I'd be here a long time.

And I get he concern if hiring coordinators as your head coach, but recently that trend has been paying off. Won't for everyone, but I'd be willing to give Schumann the chance. And if I didn't think he's get it done, I wouldn't even bother saying his name.

I think the vast majority of fans and members here don't want to see what happened yesterday while most also realize that, barring DeBoer quitting, a coaching change is a minimum of 2 to 3 years out. I have serious doubts that the current staff will fix all of these issues. My hope is that they get better through the year, play more consistently than last year, and make some staff changes at the end of the season.
