🏈 Finebaum's Book

I enjoyed it. Alabama, and to a lesser degree, Auburn was the focus of the book. It was a fairly personal book about Finebaum's career, family, and the football that went on during his time. He even cracked a joke about Evansville, IN.

I will say this, I hadn't listened to his show until after I read this book, so I'm not sure how a listener would receive his book.

I have not read the book but I want soon. As far as his new show goes, I liked the radio version better bc he did not have to have on so many guests, he just allowed people to call in and talk.

That's an interesting take, Mike. Most would say they don't listen to the show because of the callers, but will admit he does a good job with his interviews.

Reading it now. I'd say it's pretty good, but not great - so far. Almost like he and his co-writer are trying too hard to win a Pulitzer or something by delving into too many tangents and as a result, it is actually kind of slow in spots. I still think it's worth getting. I got the first edition signed copy.

Some of the callers make the show interesting to say the least. He does do a good job with interviews, no doubt, IMO. It just seems to me that since he has been on TV, that the 'talking heads' have had him have a larger than normal guest list. I will admit that I do not listen on a regular basis bc I do not have access to the radio show in my vehicle so I listen when I am driving my wife's car. I have only seen the TV show a few times since I am at work being a principal when it's on during the day.

Thanks, y'all. I went ahead and bought a copy. Electronic version. I despise ebooks but we were leaving the next day for vacation, and none of the area bookstores had it. (I think it has been banned in B10 country.) Ebooks are so sterile to me.

Anyway, I needed some light reading to help me relax while I'm away from the grind. So far so good. I like it. Especially chapter 1, with the likes of these gems, "Saban could coach a lingerie football team to the the Big Ten Championship." and "For all the Big Ten's insufferable yammering about tradition, and The Shoe, and The Big House, and its alumni base, the conference has as many national championships in the last forty-five years (four) as the SEC has won in the last five."

That's good stuff, right there. I don't care what you say. And rest assured, everybody up here in Buckeye country is going to hear about it. I may even give out a few copies for Christmas presents.

By the way, I'm currently in the Land of the Tide enjoying the scenery on the Redneck Riviera, so welcome me home, brethern!
