Practice report: Alabama makes a change along O-line
Alabama was back on the practice field Friday afternoon for its 23rd practice of the fall and first day of USC install. The Crimson Tide players practiced outdoors and in shells on a mostly-sunny, 93-degree afternoon.
Here are several tidbits from the media viewing portion of Alabama's Friday practice session in Tuscaloosa:
- After 21 practices, there was a noticeable change along what appears to be the first-team offensive line. Bradley Bozeman lined up at center, while Ross Pierschbacher moved over to right guard. Cam Robinson was at left tackle, Lester Cotton was at left guard and Jonah Williams was at right tackle -- just like we have seen the last 21 practice sessions.
- The second-team offensive line was comprised of, from left to right, Matt Womack, Dallas Warmack, JC Hassenauer, Alphonse Taylor and Korren Kirven. Nick Saban said Taylor would be day-to-day with an injury.
- Inside linebacker Rashaan Evans did not appear to be doing much in one period of individual drills.
- I did not spot inside linebacker Joshua McMillon during the one media viewing period Friday.
- A few scout-team numbers dotted the practice field Friday afternoon. They were linebacker Mekhi Brown wearing No. 45 (DE Porter Gustin), defensive lineman Johnny Dwight wearing No. 44 (DT Malik Dorton) and running back Lawrence Erekosima wearing No. 22 (RB Justin Davis).
- Several walk-on wide receivers and defensive backs also wore Nos. 1, 2 and 9, representing USC playmakers Darreus Rogers, Adoree Jackson and Juju Smith-Schuster, respectively.
*** What’s next: Alabama will return to practice Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT for its final practice before game week.
