I'd be lying if I said I didn't tire of the overexposure Tim has received the last few years.

I'd also be lying if I didn't admit I carry a lot of respect for the man.

He gets no sympathy from me. Supposedly the Jets gave him permission to seek a trade and several teams were interested IF he would agree to a position change but he said no. Shockingly (insert sarcasm) noone was interested in him as a QB.

I heard that as well. It's not really the Jets' problem. If he's not gonna play up to par, they aren't gonna start him, and if he doesn't really play, he's not gonna stick around. You get what you give. If you really love football and wanna play, especially in such a league as the NFL is turning into, you do what you can to play and stay on the field. You adapt. But if you're unwilling to be flexible, that's your problem. He's just not a legitimate pro QB. The Jets gave him a shot (though they didn't really live up to the whole "trick play Tebow" thing they were promoting, but he did still get 77 snaps), just as the Broncos did. It just didn't pan out. I'm sure he will find his way, it's just not here.

Yeah its no secret that the Jets handled Tebow terribly and I honestly dont think Rex Ryan ever wanted him, but for a guy that says all the time he "just wants to play" and he'll do anything for the team he sure isn't too keen on doing something that most coaches feel he would be better suited at in the NFL (a different position). Thats one of the many reasons ESPN gets on my nerves about this. I heard at least a dozen times (granted Skip Bayless was at least 5 of the times) how Tebow "does everything asked of him." No he doesnt, if he did he would have switched to a Slash type of position so many coaches have wanted to try him at. He doesnt have the arm, the accuracy, the patience, or even the damn throwing motion to be an NFL QB.

I feel bad for Tebow. He DID deserve much better than what the Jets gave him. They waited until teams' rosters were full before releasing him.

I'm going to catch he!! For this, but Tebow is no worse than GMac. I think the Jets got rid of him because they got tired of the bad press they were getting based on the product on the field and always being asked why is Tebow not at least given a try with Sanchez being so awesome.

Other than about 60 IQ points and an accurate arm, you're not too far off.

The Jets have been a dumpster fire for a while now. Greg Mc, IMO, was released because he spoke up about what he saw in the locker room.

There is precedent for a highly acclaimed college QB making a position switch to stay in the NFL. Hornung was also a Heisman winner. he was a key part of the Packer teams that dominated in the sixties, and his role was as a running back. The comparison can't be carried too far as Hornung was very much a playboy in his private life.

When was GMac released? He still shows on the roster. I mean he could be cut before the season.

As for the whole Christian thing, it has nothing to do with football. Its his playing ability. He doesnt fit the NFL. He isnt the first "great" collegiate player to not translate to the NFL.

You hit the nail on the head, Birdman. I feel like sports media paints him as being simultaneously a joke but also a tragic figure. He's neither. He's just a stubborn dude, who can't play the game, on a poorly run team. And 2/3 of that is his fault. Like, I'd feel bad for him if he was legitimately TRYING to play (by switching positions, etc) but he did not. He refuses. You have to be a little flexible if you want to get anywhere in life; single-mindedness isn't gonna get you far.

The Jets were getting bad press because Tebow is a Christian. New York is a non-Christian town. This move doesn't surprise me at all.

omg.... I dont wanna get into some huge argument on here but this is such BS. Absolutely 100% BULLSH*T... The Jets got TONS of press but not a single bit of was "negative" because of Tebow's religion. Where in the hell did you get that? In fact most of the press all year were screaming about how crappy the Jets had used Tebow. According to my friend up there yesterday all New York media were talking about was how the Jets screwed Tebow over yesterday too. Tim Tebow was a circus for the Jets and his presence rattled the already mentally weak Mark Sanchez even further. The Jets office wanted Tebow because they wanted to compete with the Giants for attention (the Giants had just won the Super Bowl) while u could tell Ryan didnt even want the dude.
