šŸˆ @Espngreeny: In final slap to the face, #Jets wait until too late for Tim Tebow to find a job to rel

Wow, crack on the guy for his beliefs. Really? Would any of you say these things if he was Muslim? Tebow believes premarital sex in wrong. So he is belittled for being a virgin. Give the guy a break already.

He may be a bad quarterback in the NFL. I don't know because I don't watch the NFL. I'm tired of hearing people criticize him for his religion though.

He's probably got all the money he needs for a lifetime. I'm sure he's got more than anyone on this board, and I'm certain he's a far better quarterback than anyone on this board.

Everyone may resume celebrating and accepting muggers, drug addicts, and theives back into the NFL. Being a virgin is so much worse than commiting disorderly conducty and resisting arrest.

WTF are you talking about? Name one person in here that has criticized him for his religion? And what does being a muslim have to with anything? And who in the media criticizes Tebow for his religion? Dude you just went way off the rails with that one. That is such a BS cop out. In fact most people that "criticize" him typically have to preface it by saying "Tebow is a great young man" just because ppl like you try to say you're attacking his character because you think he's a horrendous QB.

And good for him if he has more money than me or hes a better QB than me, great, Im glad for him. Guess what being a better QB than ME doesnt make him a better QB than the other 100 + QBs in the NFL... You just took criticism of Tebow's ABILITY AS A QB by everyone that said it on this board and then twisted into us criticizing his character/religion. And THAT my friend is one of the many reasons Tebowmania has rubbed so many the wrong way. You say you dont think hes a good QB and then some nut claims you're an atheist and you just hate him because he's a christian. Ridiculous.

Confusion. What does anyone being a Muslim have to do with anything, and how does it relate to this conversation?

No one makes fun of Tebow for his religion except for the idiots on the internet (see: the link I posted from Terez Owens.com) who poke fun at EVERYONE'S religion/politics/style of play/etc etc. No one is safe lol. It's SATIRE; it reflects the crap we as a society focus on. Why is everyone so hung up on Tebow and his religion, be it those who make fun of him and those who care so much about it? I guess we can blame the media here. Not to mention, I have yet to meet a single person who has made a crack about a player's religion or lack of religion. If anything it would just serve as a cheap laugh at ourselves, really. The fact that Tebow himself brings it up all the time is what makes it funny. Same goes for Ray Lewis. I don't know what the heck the guy is ever saying but it always sounds good/relates to God somehow, lol. The media then takes all of this and twists it into a caricature of an athlete .. and you know the rest.

At the end of the day, 99.99% of legitimate football fans (AKA, all of us on here, I assume) are not gonna knock a player for what he believes (be it your God, someone else's God, or no god at all), or what he/she thinks, or whatever .. We will knock him/her for their attitude on the field and how they play. The few idiots who do seriously make fun of beliefs/etc? They can shove it  We keep it real!

Let's avoid making this into a crazy political/religious thread. We can certainly all agree Tebow: A. is stubborn and refuses to be flexible/change positions if it means getting to play, B. just isn't a good player anymore, and C. got really screwed over by the Jets. We good? :twothumbs: Roll tide!

What makes no sense is that the Jets went after him so hard and then now they dump him...sure is isn't a great QB but neither is Sanchez and yet he is still there..I can at least say for Tebow that he got tackled by opponents rather than the ass of his offensive lineman.

There's been talk of the Jets trading Sanchez away. The Jets just don't know how to handle a QB .. That's what, 3 QBs they basically wasted away now? Poor Geno Smith, lol.

I don't even remotely feel this is a religious thing. It's a the Jets are a horrible organization and couldn't develope a QB if they're lives depended on it thing. Sanchez isn't getting traded nor is he getting cut because of that monster of a contract he has. If they cut Sanchez it's a 12.5 mil cap hit or something close to that.

He isn't the most accurate QB by a ways lol, but he deserved much better than what the Jets gave him even Stephen A Smith said as much and he's as tired of Tebow as anybody on the planet. I don't believe that refused to change positions he played punt coverage for sh** sakes, so for anybody to say that he refuses to change positions without hearing directly from him is silly.

[h=1]Greg McElroy in the mix for NY Jets starting QB job?[/h]

One day after releasing Tim Tebow, New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan and Jets general manager John Idzik both said that all five of the remaining quarterbacks on the Jets roster will have a shot at earning the starting quarterback job, including former Alabama star Greg McElroy. "Mark's in the competition," Idzik said of returning starter Mark Sanchez on the "Mike & Mike in the Morning" show on ESPN Radio. "We fully expect it will help him get better. It'll help David [Garrard] get better. It'll help Greg [McElroy]. It'll help Matt [Simms]. It'll certainly help Geno [Smith]."
"There's no guarantee Mark will be our starting quarterback," Ryan said later in the day to ESPN Radio. "That job will have to be earned."

McElroy, who was selected by the Jets in the 7th round of the 2011 draft, played in two games and started one for the Jets in 2012 completing 19 of 31 passing attempts for 214 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception.

Theyre all in it, but a team doesn't draft a QB if they feel the dudes they have give them much of a shot.

He did indeed, but he can't be that good if they're drafting another QB. I think it's a the Jets are a horrible organization and they didnt want to risk Tebow at least winning more than Sanchez because Sanchez is Ryan's hunny

Thats like suggesting Matt Ryan isnt any good because they drafted the Duke QB... or Tom Brady isnt any good because they drafted Ryan Mallet last year... kind of a ridiculous imo. I dont personally think the Jets are COMFORTABLE with any of the QBs. It was said over and over that Tebow looked horrible in practice with the Jets and thats my guess as to why they never wanted to start him. Ryan definitely had a man crush on Sanchez but I think it was more of a case of him not wanting to seem like they're giving up on the dude they just gave a huge raise too. Now it seems like they're ready to give up on him if someone beats him out of the job.

GMac is no Matt Ryan and he isn't ever going to be close to Brady, so the comparisons are looney. He could have looked horrible in practice, but the dude is a straight up winner. It's also been said over and over that he plays better than he practices. Of course now it seems they're ready to give up on him if someone beats him....I guarantee Sanchez is the starting QB from day one, they might yank him, but he's the starter and everybody knows it. They're not going to pay a backup that kind of money

That wasnt my point, my point was just because a team drafts a QB doesnt mean they think they're others are no good... He's a straight up winner but lost 5 of his last 6 starts...

Tebow was a media circusfrom day 1 when he was initially drafted. All the experts were saying then that he needed to switch positions to stay in the league. The Jets being the dysfuntional franchise that they are, thought it would be a great PR move to bring in Tebow to deflect some positive pub away from the Giants. We all know how that played out. I have alot of respect for Tebow as a person but as a QB, he doesn't fit that mold of a spread option QB or even a SLASH like Kordell Stewart did.

The Jets I think know what they have now isnt going to be a long term answer, so they drafted a QB in the second round with all the other needs they have.

He is a straight up Winn (Tebow) he took a piss poor Denver team to the playoffs and beat a good Pittsburgh team.

Now, would I draft him as a QB? Not hardly
