šŸˆ ESPN says Texas will announce Sark as their Head Coach.

Only one meaningful game left this season. Even if Sarkisian is hired by the Horns, there is no reason to leave Bama before January 9th. I don't believe recruiting is a primary concern during the next week.

I would say that unless a program had a replacement they would not fire the current guy but this is college football and Texas. Someone above said something about this is the reason Sark turned down the Barn. If he would go to that cow manure place he wouldn't be the smartest in the world. Pretty sure there are lots of reasons Sark would turn down the Barn.

Two weeks ago it was shared here that the Texas AD's "vote of confidence" wasn't all that and Herman was not in a good place. Tim quipped something about Texas having it all together...a few days ago Texas came up again and it was shared they're looking at Sark.

It's not a snipe job...hunter dressed in orange, downwind, smelling like money.

A lot is shared here. How many "votes of confidence" remarks have been made lately? More than enough to make a lot think Herman would get one more chance.

I missed the Sarkesian and Texas remarks then. I'm far from an insider, but not a hermit either, and I just don't recall much smoke around this. But whatever, I don't really care one way or the other. I like Sarkesian and hate to lose him, but knew it would come sooner rather than later. Can't stand Herman, so no tears shed there.

Texas signed 19 in the early period. They have 6 left. Per NCAASports.org "December 14, 2020 – January 14, 2021 is a dead period". So there is no immediate need to recruit until after the game. Only thing they can really do right now is set targets. Being the OC of a Natty winning team would be more important to recruiting than anything else he can do over the next 9 days.

• Spent the last 15 minutes on the phone with sources and here are a few general thoughts I've gathered:

• Nobody expects his move to Texas to affect the national championship game. He's a pro. And in fact I was told, after the fact, that this had been in the works a few weeks and Sark had kept it quiet and he's done a fine job the last couple of weeks. I don't think a lot of people at UA knew about it either.

• The possibility of landing a bigger job (Texas) was the reason he turned down the Auburn (and other possible) interviews. Same source said he never was leaving UA except for a too good to pass up offer. Texas fits the bill. Also the NFL would have came calling after the season, too. It was a matter of when not if he would be moving on.

• Most of the class has signed. Sark didn't recruit a lot of kids. So we don't anticipate any major issues here.

• All the coaches who know Sark are happy for him. He's well liked by his peers. Opinions vary if Texas is a great fit. Time will tell but all agreed he deserved another chance.

• Think a big shout out for Sarkisian is deserved for the job he did. Lane and Locks brought it and Sark picked it up and did a great job.

• We will be working on an OC hot board. Gathering names now but there will be no shortage of candidates for this job. Very loaded offensive room.

Unsure what sources Pollack has, but I’m sure they’re halfway viable. Regardless, I’m expecting Steve to take the job.
It's likely no different than Brown's, one of the booster's who isn't a fan of Sark taking the job. Brando's is getting his "sources" word and like Pollack it's from that camp.

This is Texas Football.

If he does go, who would be a good replacement?

There will be a long list of people who want it (college and NFL). I'm not sure Saban would give him an interview, but I could see Jeff Lebby having some interest (he's not real happy at Ole Miss).

As for the upcoming championship game, Sark will coach and do fine. This isn't Kiffin 2.0.

I'm no fan of Texas, but I'm happy for Sark. Would be really hard to not root for him to do well. I personally think he was the leader in the clubhouse to replace Saban (though there was a lot of golf yet to be played), but now he has a chance to prove he can successfully lead a bigtime program and has grown/learned from his past mistakes (which I believe he has). Even if he is very successful in Austin, I don't think this absolutely closes the door on a return to UA down the road, especially if he's unable to clean up the Texas mess (boosters).
