Drew gonna help Notre Dame get up and over the hump. Best of luck to him. He better find him a fitted SJW hat if he intends to stick with NBC over the long haul.
Nick n dolphins needed a qb....
Looked at Brees n Donta Culpepper....Brees just getting knee surgery or just getting over... so dolphins went with Culpepper....
thank the Lord....Culpepper and dolphins never jived....and Nick n Ms Terry wanted out of Miami and the nfl...
bama needed a HC...Spurrier said NO....so Mal went to Miami to find one...
And the rest is history...

Ultimately we can thank the Dolphins medical staff. They were the ones advising the GM (bean counters) not to go with Brees.
Brees had a second opinion..........for some reason, I think it was from Andrew's group in B'ham.
Dolphins tell Nick no on Brees and that you have to go with Culpepper. I think that was the moment Saban realized he needed to be back in college where he has the say so about which players he gets and how to run the organization.

Thanks Mal......I wonder what Mal and his pilots had to eat while they were waiting on the plane for Miss Terry to tell Nick to pack his bags for T-Town. Mal wasn't too proud or arrogant to wait on The Man. Well done Mal.

It was a shoulder. I've read before - don't know if it's true - that one of MD's/execs who recommended against Brees was Danny Kanell's father. Even twice removed, it probably rankles Danny to know he had a role in setting Alabama up for this historic era.
It wasn't just Brees, though, that hurt the Dolphins' offensive chances. Rick Williams' suspension and retirement caught them off-guard.
