🏈 Does Ingram have a real shot at the heisman?

Well, my opinion doesnt count, but my opinion is I dont think so. I also would commend Ingram. Not for just all of the work and leadership, but for understanding that it is the team that has got him where he is now. Hearing him talk about the TEAM after every game when some dope tries to ask again about the heisman.

I would love for him to win it. He seems like such an honest and down to earth guy. A real team player. But I have a feeling that the lovefest for Tebow will continue and they will give it to him for a second time. Which is a pity, since he has been mediocre at best this year.

I would guess Yes...but perhaps for the wrong reason.

It troubles me that all of a sudden you can't read the words "Ingram" and "Heisman" in the same paragraph without "Alabama has never had a Heisman winner", as if that phrase is a required caveat. It is almost as if the media has suddenly become assamed of this point and in on a mission to right this "wrong".

I believe Coach Bryant said it best. When asked why no player in Alabama history had won a Hesiman trophy, Coach Bryant replied. At Alabama we dont win Heisman trophies, we win National Championships.

I think Ingram is thinking along those lines, and if anything else comes with a NC, then so be it.

I think he has THE shot. Biggest competition is Colt McCoy IMO. I feel real confident Ingram could take it home.
Itll come down to how he does in the SECCG. he only needs a workmanlike performance in that game, coupled with a win, and hes got it.

The rest of the season he has the might defenses of chattanooga and auburn to contend with.........

Its his to lose, and the toughest games of the regular season are behind us.

So among the current hiesman candidates, he is the most likely to win it.

It would be fitting the Heisman trophy if McCoy wins it only to stumble big time in the NC game to an Ingram led Tide. That is an outcome I will choose EVERY time. You may have a single trophy, but everyone of the members of the Crimson Tide will have a CHAMPIONSHIP RING!

Agreed. McCoy will be the biggest competition, and Tebow could be the one the keeps him from getting it. As for McCoy, thing that drives me nuts about him possibly winning it, their schedule was/is a joke this year... and his stats have not been Heisman like to me... especially in the "bigger games".

Look at his stats... especially their "bigger games" against OU, OSU, and Texas Tech. All those teams are jokes this year, and his numbers are still average.

Meanwhile, Ingram has showed up in the biggest games and produced against respectable SEC defenses (plus a very respectable VT defense).

I feel really, really sorry for Mark. Can you imagine how he's going to feel? He's gonna have to personally carry home the SECC Trophy from Atlanta, the Heisman Trophy from New York, and then that big ole crystal NC Trophy from Pasadena? Poor guy. I bet he could just cry... ;)

The fact that Mark is from Michigan will help him. What is going to hurt him the most IMO, is those in the Southeast that want to give it to Tebow again as a lifetime achievement award...[/QUOTE]

thats exactly what i think will happen. i think alot of the voters are doing the best they can to give it to tebow. i just wonder how in the world some people are gonna cope with a non-tebow sec???? at this point i think ever superman is tire of hearing about tim tebow

It's his to lose IMHO. If ESPN thinks he's the front runner then you have a big hoss on your side. During the MSU game they showed stats and GMac has better numbers than Tebow, so I don't enough voters will turn to Tebow, but McCoy could take it home. It'll come down to the SECCG. But, like everybody else said if he loses the heisman and we win the NC then I'm okay with that. But, I think we have a shot at getting both.

IMO if Bama beats UF in the SECCG, then there is no way that the voters in the east vote for Tebow. Whether they vote for McCoy may be a different story. It would be funny to see Texas get dismantled in the Big 12 CG by one of those scrub teams from the North.

This and the announcers going on and on about GMac not losing a game...

Not to say GMac should not be proud to be a winner but the announcers have to bring it up almost every time they mention his name...almost like they are trying to jinx him.
