šŸ€ Details on the arrest of Alabama basketball guard Aden Holloway from a Tuscaloosa police spokesperson

Going back a bit to the original charges. One thing cited was Promethazine. That was a "wait a minute" thing for me. I knew the name. I didn't know how. That ticked me off a bit so the old "note to self" thing happened.

I looked it up a few hours ago and noticed it was sold under the name Phenergan. I've had that prescribed; I have some now. I recognized the name becuase, get this, its on the damn box! I digress ...

One thing I noticed about the pill was it felt like a bit of a 'downer.' I didn't notice it at first due to the pain meds I was on. I was basically being given four hours doses, two hours apart. Since they were different drugs they could be mixed and the Phenergan was to keep me from throwing up like others have that couldn't handle the "buzz."

Here's my point. That can be used as something to help you breath. I've read where it helped people with allergies as well as being used for anxiety. Then we have it used as a sedative.

This all may seem trivial. Where it catches my attention is the note that said something along the lines of his name not being associated with the pills/'script. So, my question is, "why?" Where it came from is secondary to why.
Now that I've written all of that.

Jemarcus Russell comes to mind. I think I know why and how...gotta think.

I believe this is a Class C felony. I'm fairly certain that's what I read when I was looking up different AL Codes Monday evening. The section you cited earlier was the same one I mentioned on page 1 of the thread. At that point my conclusion was Class C. It was a little before six that evening...which translates to my 17th, 18th hour Monday. I quit reading because, well, I was tired. šŸ™ƒ šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Quotation marks signify a quote. You've quoted a posted of mine in this response. So, I assume this ... what?

I haven't said any such thing. That's not a misquote. That's a fabrication if you are attributing it to me.

When I posted the message you quoted we were under the assumption he had a pound. Now it's two which may change things. But, what I said is the absolute truth.

A first time offender will get pre-trial intervention in drug court and if that's completed the charges are dropped. That's the law as much as 13A-12-213.

Why allow Pettway back and not Aden? You may not agree with the administration allowing DJ to come back. I think you will agree Aden and DJ have to held to the same standards. (I would think armed robbery charges are a higher class felony. They may be the same.)

It's a new day, you don't need him or his trouble. I was shocked they took Pettway back after that. Didn't he beat up a kid on a bike and steal from him? Thought that was the case.

For every one of a Pettway story, you got ten Jonathan Taylor stories where they become a headache again. These guys are paid money for their NIL. Holloway's Imagine ain't worth much at the moment and hurts the program at the moment it needs him the most, tournament time. It's the sole reason he gets paid. It sucks knowing that money is fueling drug use. Am I stupid to think he's the only one, no, but he got caught and it's the story we know. For that reason alone he doesn't deserve revenue share from the University or NIL money from boosters. It would be a terrible precedent to set. Like I said in the baseball thread, there are hundreds more that can do what he does, you just gotta go find them. Move on.

So polyamorous living relationships is a thing in college? Maybe I haven't heard of much then. Once again, I'm 42, but consider myself more of an old soul, so while I used to drink my tail off, run with the ladies, and do things I'm surprised I didn't die from, I still don't push the envelope like these folks nowadays just begging for STD's, abortions, domestic violence etc. Like the Italians like to say, "there's no respect with these young kids".

Pettway was the only one of the 3 to be allowed back. That situation was a little different because it was a 1st offense of any kind and out of character (I’m not saying I would’ve let him come back). His parents got ahold of him and brought the true fear of god into him. He worked his ass off to get back and showed a different level of commitment and remorse for his offense. He also took full responsibility and made no excuses.
I’m not sure what kind of ā€œrun insā€ with law enforcement Holloway has had or if he’s ā€œtroubleā€. Pettway was not, and never even got into any kind of trouble in high school.

I may be off but it was stealing a ā€œstudent cash cardā€- Bama cash and he used it. He was one of 3 to participate in the use of the card, but I believe the other two were charged with physical assault as well.

That sounds eerily similar to the Calloway kid/linebacker and the other 2 fools from early in the CNS days. One was a fairly touted WR. Stole some cards and used them. I don’t remember any of those kids really making it after those events, no matter where they transferred to. It was a shame.

A good side effect is that when we re-recruited him from "Last Chance U" we ended up bringing Jarren Reed (I believe).

Love this!

Fuck this. He knew he did wrong. He warns more of your time now that he broke laws and team rules over everyone else??? He took money to uphold a standard and wearing the script A yet he decided to put his teammates, coaches, university, and fans in a bad spot due to selfishness. His ass ain't 15 years old. He is 21 and knew exactly what he was doing, he just got caught.

Sure, if he needs someone to talk to, be there, but he has exhausted any support from Alabama in my eyes. Oats is paid millions to build and maintain a program for Alabama, not be a probation officer. Not saying you turn your back fully on everyone, but there is a team there that hasn't gotten in trouble you better support first and foremost and do the other in your free time.

I say as coach, you have to ā€œslow playā€ this when the legal system is involved. You have to get all of the facts out before just shutting the door.
It’s a lot easier for us as fans to discard these athletes when they make selfish decisions.

And unless he is not like everyone else in this country....

Certainly not excusing his decisions and consequences there of.
But he is human. Young (. 21 is really young). Has money. In s target rich environment.

Punishment.... for sure..... being disassociated as a basketball player....yep
But being discarded as a person who made a mistake and let alot of people down.... hard and want to but no .... not really!
I am sure. We have done some really stupid things. Maybe caught up with us. Maybe slid by.

Hope he moves on in life and learns

I definitely agree with that. Definitely coach speak right now, but he has stopped short of defending him which makes me think they know it's not defendable. He had Bediako's back big time and spoke outwards about it all because he felt he had a legit stance.

I'm speaking as a fan where we better not be wasting anymore funds on him. This is what the rest of the team has worked towards, March Madness. Holloway has effectively taken that from these guys and a new game plan is needed. I don't want him financially syphoning off resources after breaking the law. All this sympathy for him is bullcrap. An example needs to be made, but it'll get swept under the rug eventually.

CNO should be heavy in the ears of Holloway's best friends on the team and the players who hung with him the most.

Someone, probably an informant, most likely, ratted out Holloway. They probably had eyes and ears on him for a while. Narcs don't just go knocking down doors because of suspicion they might find a few ounces or dime bags. They Knew they would find a couple of lbs.

It's not likely any of his friends, or other players will be implicated. But they should be wary they are being looked at, listened to. The source of where he scored the weed, that person , if not already, will go down also. Unless, the source of the weed was an undercover law enforcement person.
