šŸ€ Details on the arrest of Alabama basketball guard Aden Holloway from a Tuscaloosa police spokesperson

He can choose not to let this incident define him. It is a choice, like most things in life.
Stories like Aden's remind me of something I overheard years ago where an older fella was talking to a guy who had got into a bit of trouble. I can't give you the exact quote; it's been years and it took me a minute to get it when I heard what he said.

"Are you waning or waxing?"

If the multiple stories of Aden having an encounter with TPD a week before this happened are true it leads me to think there's more to the story. When I see it was a guy with several girls living in the house with him? I KNOW there's more to the story.

I took me a few minutes to find this. I stumbled across it years ago during some "Uncle Tom," political thing (I don't remember what it was other than funny at the time.) The jist is this is "Tom." He's one of the "characters" from Urban Dictionary.

Have we ever heard of something like that with an athlete living with multiple women, not his family, but "relationship" arrangement? I understand, we live in a different world, but this seems beyond anything we should be hearing about in college. A little pot, you're gonna find in a ton of places on campus. Kegs, beer, trashy yards with beat up cars, you're gonna find that. I just can't wrap my head around this one as it takes me to a space I never want to see in the same breath as "college". If this doesn't scream "too much money being paid" I don't know what does.

Just create a minor league system and get these guys gone. Let them go pro out of high school and ruin their lives if they want. I'm over trying to care about others getting an education and having a life after it's all over and none of them care to view that path. At 18 they're grown ups anyways, so I hate using the term "kids" any longer, because the ones going to war don't benefit from that, so a 23 year old sixth year senior shouldn't either. They just need to open the door for these guys to skip college. I liked Aiden and thought he was a good person for our university, but now all of that is gone regardless of what I hear now regarding the pot.

We? šŸ™ƒ I can't speak to what you've heard of before today. If you can't wrap your head around this it makes me think you haven't heard much.

It does not scream too much money being paid in my view. Or, my experience. A soccer player whom I'd never met asked me a question my first semester at Bama. She said, "what kind of car do you drive?" That was almost 25 years ago. I ignored her; literally. But, that would have been an easy snatch: double entendre intended.

This story is easy to understand. I'm sure it isn't the kind of thing people came to this thread to read. Well, except @PurlJam

Nate Oats extended quote from his radio show on arrest of Aden Holloway:

ā€œWe’ve got standards in our program. We’ve got ways we’ve held our guys accountable. We try to keep everything in house. Obviously some of the situations you can’t. This is one of those. The situation is a little different. We found out about what was going on this morning. I found out this morning. I guess it all went down this morning. We had to suspend him, pending the investigation by the UA office of student conduct. We’re certainly disappointed in his behavior. That being said, we still love him. He’s still our guy. We’re helping him get the help he needs. We’re going to continue to help him whatever way we can.

ā€œAs far as our team goes, I thought we had a great practice. We’re preparing to play without him this weekend. We’re preparing for Hofstra, who is very good. They’ve got a good backcourt of their own. I thought our guys, while at the same time, Aden is one of our guys and everybody wants to wrap their arms around him and love him. Everybody makes mistakes in life. But they also understand we’ve got to move on. We’ve got a whole other group of guys and the team’s got to go play Friday.

ā€œI thought we did a good job of that this morning, kind of addressing the situation, what we currently knew at the time. Got our guys focused on practice. I thought we had a really good practice.ā€œ

So polyamorous living relationships is a thing in college? Maybe I haven't heard of much then. Once again, I'm 42, but consider myself more of an old soul, so while I used to drink my tail off, run with the ladies, and do things I'm surprised I didn't die from, I still don't push the envelope like these folks nowadays just begging for STD's, abortions, domestic violence etc. Like the Italians like to say, "there's no respect with these young kids".

Polyamorous can mean more than one thing.

Here's something you've heard of: kids "hooking up." There's no commitment there. Commitment is a word found in some definitions of polyamourous relationships. There's no romance in those "hook-ups" though you'll find that in the definitions as well.

Kids hookin' up on high school and move to college where they can live off campus, with others, and hook up anytime they want. That's a natural progression.

The inability for you to wrap your head about this? In my opinion that falls more along the lines of cultural divisions.

I'm not questioning hooking up. I know that happens as I admitted I did my part back when. The one thing I didn't do was slut around and drive my numbers up because I was bored on a Tuesday like they do now. I guess I don't find it cool to throw a massive number out there to impress others. I was never looking for a significant other that everyone else had a turn with. Just not my thing. Some people like that and it's of no surprise we have high divorce rates and STD rates now compared to past. Being passed around was another questionable action that I never understand as a woman. Women want to be respected and treated well, but you see what they wear and how they act and it makes you question that whole movement. Men are slobs and definitely hold their part of the responsibility too as all they want is to tell some dumbass story to their buddies thinking it's cool. We could go down a rabbit hole here if we wanted, but I totally understand how things are now and "expressive" they try being to go viral. Maybe you're right, call it cultural for me, but I'm also not in jail or arrested for some of this dumbass shit either...

It must have grown during the night!

If 1lb is a 120 day stash, then 2.1lbs must be a good 250 day stash. I don’t keep 250 days worth of too many perishable items around my house. But that’s just me! I did have to bust the wife up (figuratively) last week when I noticed 3 backup milks in the garage fridge.

Milk....milk....anytime milk is kept instead of Budlight....thats criminal...
Of course...in this weather....dont have to refrigerate
but 250 day stash of BL is one of my goals....
