💬 Definitely off topic, but what the hell? You get one point for something you've NEVER done. Does anyone here score, at all?

Same for me. I don't think I've ever sent a post card. I've sent plenty of hand-written letters in the mail, but never a post card...I think.
They were quick notes to friends. Like people post on facebook. Where they are. What they are doing. Obviously just one on one.
My mom use to get a hand full .... put a quick note."put 2-3 cent stamp (??) and send...
To sisters n brothers...friends...
An era gone for sure...

The old floppy disk for storage. This one makes me laugh considering I used this before the floppy ... the early version of external memory/storage.

@Bamabww as a kid, sitting in front of the radio listening to the Top 40 with Kasey Kasem knowing the next song is one you like.

Record+Play: then pause until it started...
Sometimes the radio station would play a whole album when it came out. Be there for over an hour trying to make sure you didn't get any announcements on it but it was a cheap way to get a whole album on cassette

Off and on this morning I've been thinking about where I saw one last. I know I've seen them many a time in and around the visitor center, downtown. I've seen them at the Fort, etc.

I was in a Hampton Inn a couple of weeks ago. I can't remember if I saw any there. I think CVS may have some. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, I grew up in the middle ages. Graduated HS in 1974. No such thing as floppy disk. I never saw a student utilize a cassette recorder at school. Even the newfangled calculators were frowned upon, outlawed. I never attended university.

I was never much of a movie buff, maybe watched an occasional old movie on the tube. Never rented a movie.

Yes, I have recorded music from the radio to cassette, but not very often. I was more apt to record vinyl to cassette. Which made more sense to me since I still have a pretty extensive collection of 33's and 45's. I also have a few 78's, but neither of my turntables has a 78 speed.

Dang, today feels like Sunday. Anyone else ever get their days mixed up?

There was a station here that did that back in the 90s. They'd play the whole album, uninterrupted; no commercials, just one song after another. They'd hit play, then let it go. It was cool being able to hear some songs that would otherwise never get air play. Also, it was a good way to see if you'd want to buy the whole album or just the singles.

0 points. None.

I still own a dictionary, a comprehensive single volume encyclopedia, I use paper maps when I hike, I keep a paper state map of AL & GA in my truck, and my check use has diminished but I still write them each month. Music from CD, cassette and album/45 in the last year. A few months ago, I found several old basic cameras my Dad kept in his boat and truck and I paid to have film developed. Only got about three viewable photos all from the bunch, and they were all on ten to fifteen year exposed film. That was a one and done, though.

As a kid, I would record AT40 on my cassette player. Cheaper than Ronco.

Graduated 1973. Heck, I'm starting to get my months mixed up.

My old Sears component system was a snap to record from the radio or album. The cassette unit was exactly this size, but screwed into the overall chassis and integrated. Several years ago, I snagged a couple of bluetooth add-ons that run out of the auxiliary for my old audio stuff. My wife was unhappy that I extended their respective lives. It was a the audio equivalent of JDAM upgrades.

I'm thinking I was in fourth grade. It fits because I was a Star Trek fan at the time. I can remember making a "red and yellow alert" program (flashing screen, sound, etc.) that I stored on a cassette. I can't remember how it was integrated into the computers other than using the "line-in" off the cassette player.

I can remember a friend, Eddie, moving music from cassettes to his MAC several years ago...Audacity, maybe? That was "line-in" again...can't recall how he hooked it in either.

Fourth grade: That means my school had computers installed in ... K5 was '73. So...'77, '78?

Lucky? Blessed? Could be either, I guess. I know independent Baptist with a little money loved spending it on the school's facilities.

Mental crutches, with me at least.

I sucked, as in I was BAD, at ALG 1 (passed, but with a C.) My teacher allowed calculators for ALG 2. I aced that one. Looking back nothing was really different other than that little TI. What was really weird is I didn't need it for Geometrical problems/courses. That just came to me like it was innate.

My mom was a math major and my dad an English major. I had no choice but to do well with ALG 1 and 2, Trig and Geometry. Dad critiqued every paper that I ever did!
