Tomorrow's a big day. Double nickels. I think 55, 22 and 12 are the most iconic jersey numbers at Bama. I'm sure I'm forgetting some goodies, but those always jump out.
The thought crossed my mind the other day ...

Next season how challenging would it be to do the same type of countdown but for players who have had an impact on college ball that didn't play for Alabama?

Give me #22 and I can point to Emmitt, quickly. That was against Bama. Doug Flutie wore #22. (Damn, both losses.) 55? Seau.

I don't remember recruiting rankings, but he was a huge get for us. For my 50th birthday - ten years ago - we had a large group go out for a concert, hitting a great (sadly departed) rooftop in West Midtown. I was wearing an Alabama polo, and a few adjacent tables had sort of joined in on the fun. One guy leaned in and said, I grew up with an Alabama player - Antonio London - do you remember him? I said, "you must be from Tullahoma, Tennessee." The guy - and my bunch of non-Bama friends - were shocked I immediately knew London's hometown, but it always just stuck in my head.
