🏈 Cyrus Jones: UPDATE Charges Dismissed

Good job, Philly. Maybe conclusions can be drawn, maybe not.

What's more, this year isn't even over yet. The list could grow even longer.

We could each choose ten names. Whoever chooses the most players with an arrest wins something, you know, like maybe tickets to the 2016 A-Day game. I hear they're quite pricey.

kinda like a celebrity death pool. I can dig it.

Like someone said before, act like a gentleman and surround yourself with good people, you have no problems. I can say I've never broken anyone's cell phone before, and I have a hard time believing he did it as a kind gesture, or threatened her because he was in a good mood and acting right. He deserves the negative attention for simply being an idiot. Can these dumbasses not learn from the many before them that no matter what is done, it's going to get legs and be in the news media?

Upshaw actually got one of these when he and his girl friend got into a very public argument. Maybe they ought to call these situations where there is no violence something other than domestic violence. Media runs with what it is called and rarely do they report the details.

Yeah, he ran his mouth but never put his hands on anyone/her. He did, allegedly, break her cell phone. Pretty weak charges if you ask me.

It's the way the domestic violence laws are written here. They are dumb. Same with Anderson's arrest earlier... Had he not had a "relationship" with the "victim", then damaging the car (and in the case an iPhone) would have resulted in a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge at worst. And while this charge is also a misdemeanor, on paper, it looks much worse for these guys.

There are cases where roommates are charged with the same stuff simply because they lived together and had a fight but never touched each other. It's silly.

^^ 4 counts burglary and 4 counts theft. 6 felonies and 2 misdemeanors. Kids have this sense of entitlement because they have been given a free pass based on athletic ability. Another will be rewarded tonight by being picked 1st overall in this years NFL draft.

Comment of the year right here. I have to watch the draft, because I gotta see our Bama boys as well as my Eagles, but man, that first pick will be brutal ..

I don't think I've watched more than a half hour of ESPN the last two weeks. I'll be happy when the draft is done, the 0ver-coverage is obscene...

I avoid ESPN, Sportscenter, B/R, etc. at this time of year for that reason. I just stick on Eagles pages. I don't care about all these other guys or teams, and I certainly don't care about Jameis Winston!

The way the media coverage is, you'd think it was the Super Bowl ..

Now, this includes the addition of the SECN but you've had the ability to watch more than two Alabama events on ESPN in the last week. This past weekend two of the three Ole Miss baseball games were aired. Today/tonight the SECN has the baseball game against Arkansas, tomorrow ESPN2. Gymnastics has been televised, softball, A-day coverage...

What I find interesting, and this is taking into account over-coverage does lend to higher ratings, is the demand seems to be there for more coverage. Last year there were a little more than 45 million viewers in all three days of the draft (about five times more than watched...say, CBS on a Wednesday night.) That number caught my eye last year because the mobile site of nfl.com (m.nfl) caught just as many visitors over the same period. That's a hell of a lot of traffic--doubled versus 2013.

(I didn't watch a minute of the coverage last night. I looked to see where Amari was drafted on Twitter and found out about Landon and TJ in the same search.)

It may run across the crawler on SEC Network or ESPN but will say nothing as to why the charges were dropped. It was either Suttles or Bone that first reported that Cyrus was the ones that called the PD to begin with. Common sense said then that he must have been trying to de-escalate the situation.
