CHINA DEBT TALKS
Finance Minister Bwalya Ng’andu also denied a report MCM and other Zambian mines might be bargaining chips in ongoing debt negotiations with China.

A Wall Street Journal report on Friday said, citing Zambian officials, that the government was considering giving China mining assets including Mopani as collateral in exchange for deferral or forgiveness of its sizeable debt.

Zambia’s external debt stood at $11.2 billion by end-June 2019, the finance minister said in March, with about a third of that foreign debt owed to China.

Asked about the Wall Street Journal report, Ng’andu told Reuters: “I have no discussions with China regarding the exchange of assets for debt. The discussions with China on debt restructuring have nothing to do with surrender of assets.”

Glencore declined to comment.

Georgia governor is relaxing some business restrictions effective Friday.
Things are changing in SC as well. Boat landings/ramps were reopened Friday yet we still have some of the local governments (Edisto Beach, Folly Beach, the Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island) that said they weren't going to open to non-residents: check points in fact.

The beaches are supposed to open up today at noon. In store shopping for a lot resumed last night but under the same restrictions seen with essential businesses. I wondered if Books a Million would be open—Google says 11 AM tomorrow.

Bars? I'm guessing they'll go by "can't exceed 20% of occupancy or five per 1000 sq ft."

BTW, how's your boy?

Charleston needs to open up by May. Hitting ten years with the wife May 8th, and we want to return to the scene of the crime.

I heard on the news last night that Gubbner Meemaw has a presser later today I think Ivey is going to make an announcement later today about reopening Alabama.

If Alabama doesn't open soon, we're going to be in a bad state of proration.

He's good, thanks. Had him quarantine for a little over three weeks, was fever free (without any tylenol) and symptom free for three days, then turned him loose. All of his dates have been cancelled, including a nice ten-day gig at the MGM Las Vegas that was to have started next week. He's doing what he needs to do to pay the bills, delivering pizzas.

Out running around a little bit ago and noticed a tour bus (chauffeured transportation, or what ever they call the luxury buses) in front of a local hotel. I'm by there quite often and it's the first one I've seen since this began.

A couple of mornings ago I cut through the parking lot of a Holiday Inn Express. It was about 4 AM so I'd say that's a pretty good indicator of occupancy. The parking lot was about 25% full (25-30 cars.) A recently as a week ago I've seen as few as three.

What I can't say is what it'll be like downtown in early May. On a bright side, a lot of the restaurants you might like to try are parts of different groups owing three, four, five different locations as well as different ethnicities. It's left to be seen how hard that's going to be hit.

Even with these lighter restrictions in place having a restaurant that's limited to, say, 50% capacity won't work. Their margins...tough situation.

That said, about a month ago there was a month long waiting list at Halls. You'll miss that. :devilish:

@planomateo I know of a girl who has had all her classes moved online. SEC school. I don't know how degree dependent, ya know? Does Chemistry get priority over Psychology if it's a partially opened campus?

Look at some of the responses to the tweet...people are seriously pissed? I'm speechless.

I have a senior in high school. I want them to tell us how they are closing out the school year...but we've heard nothing. They are delaying the inevitable. Prom, graduation, etc. Make a decision and move on. Dragging this out isn't useful and creates false hope for some parents and kids.

You think I'm going to graduation of 800+ kids and their entire families? Graduation is at a 12,000 seating capacity venue - Cowboys Practice Stadium.

Make it immediate families only, I may go...

A new set of numbers just cited in this video from California, suggest that the number of infections are many times higher than projected by
Dr Fauci and Mrs Birx. This will put the mortality rate maybe as low as 0.1 %. Potential game changing numbers. Especially with how well
some of the drugs are working.

Dr Birx. In fact, she was a Colonel in the Army too. At least give her the R E S P E C T she's worked so hard for. In my opinion, she's been one of the few people who's spoken on fact. I've watched every single presser, she's been on point the ENTIRE time.

Again, hard to say what the mortality rate would or could have been. I'm not a fan of these propaganda type videos...they seem more hype than fact.

Same here! Because I am employed in this school system, I have had several text, call, or message me "what do you know, what do you think, what have you heard?" Crickets from our superintendent and BOE. My sons class has roughly 175 in it. Pick a halfway point and hold two commencement ceremonies on the same day with a 4pm and 7pm start. Hold it in the football stadium and set a number per student with tickets. This limits the number, keeps it outside, and puts enough time between the 2 to keep the numbers down. If they don't like that, start calling them in now and video them in cap and gown receiving their diploma from the principal or superintendent. Have it done in front of their immediate families. Then splice/edit the tape and distribute to all of the families. I don't really care what they decide, but at least decide something!!!!
