| LIFE CV-19: Effects on life, work, and sports

I really don't understand how a couple of thousand dollars is supposed to help anyone.

These policitians heads are so far up their asses.

A couple of thousand dollars is a month of pay for many families, more than a month for some. It isn't meant to help folks who make $75K or higher ($150K for married folks) as we should have been saving for something like this anyway. There isn't a good solution for how to mute the impact to everyone.

The one that got me was when they were saying we should just extend unemployment instead of giving out cash. If you are out of work 2-4 weeks that cash will help make up the pitiful unemployment they give out. Extending it won't do crap.

We're currently at $23.596 trillion in debt and we're adding more.

Nothing to see here folks.

Problem isn't going in debt for something like this. Problem is that some folks see this as a perfect opportunity to start giving everything "free" as we can obviously afford to do so. UBI, free healthcare, why should anyone have to work anyway? Those are prevailing thoughts on one side of the aisle and this ability to just come up with money makes them bolder about seeking it. This should be an opportunity to talk about starting to pay off debt and put some money in reserve so we can more easily help people when something like this inevitably happens again. Becoming a Weimar Republic at least financially very quickly. People forget that Germany collapsed financially not just because of the reparations but because they printed money hand over fist to pay those and everything else.

They're still writing the bill through today, per WSJ. There will be more pork.
Sen. John Kennedy mentioned last night that he'd heard Pelosi was backing off on some of her "additions" ... still has to make it through the House after the Senate, right? We'll see how long her "retreat" lasts.

Isolation and homeschooling meet.

Think about this. You make $75,000 per year. Mortgage $1,500 per month. Food, $500.00. Utilities etc. Etc. Car payments, etc. That is living from paycheck to paycheck. That $1,200.00 is not going to help you. It's just going to piss you off. A day of reckoning is coming. Those idiots in DC can't do 3rd grade math.

Well $1,200 for low income workers better go to paying their bills. I don't think they are the ones meant to jolt the economy because they should use it to pay their bills with little to no disposable income. I'm sure we'll see plenty with Apple Airbuds, newest cell phone, large screen tvs, and then still claiming $1,200 wasn't enough to help them.

They wanted to increase the one time gift and make unemployment checks bigger. Next they'll want to extend unemployment like we did a decade ago.

Worse part is.....people will be buying stuff from China...with money America is giving you...that America doesnt have....
One of those recessions ....if I remember right...might not...the money given to Americans was actually borrowed from China....

Well...extending unemployment.....thats not a bad idea....till business ...which some on here thinks its a bad idea but is what hires people and puts out paychecks.... gets back on their feet...
Helps month to month......

A big problem...is to many have extended themselves to go paycheck to paycheck with no buffer....(my kids and grandkids).....and nothing put back....
Tried to tell them.... listen to me...o hell no...

A lot of American's can't, either.

If you don't have much if any room for error, how big should your car payment be? Should you have cable? Should you be living in a house that pushes your limit to an uncomfortable level BEFORE a crash happens?

I just don't understand how the govt is supposed to bail everyone out. Granted, I'd rather see checks go to the people than the corps... But I understand how it's all tied together.

I just think the answer is ultimately personal responsibility. No one is responsible for the virus and it's wreckage, but we're all responsible for our own overhead. I have a feeling that there's a lot of American's that don't quite understand the difference between needing and wanting (In many cases that is me as well)

We seemed to have become conditioned that the Government is supposed to take care of us and have the answers. Not sure how/when that shifted but we need to take care of ourselves and our neighbors.

Handouts. They slowly beat a majority of the population into debt through inflation and corporate deals, and then hand feed handouts to keep people dependent on them.

Schumer added a provision to ban businesses owned by the president, vice president, members of Congress and the heads of federal executive departments from receiving loans or investments through the corporate liquidity program. The prohibition also applies to their children, spouses and in-laws.
