@PhillyGirl I don't know how tall you are, but Cotton Clark was 6'1" per the roster, and the gentleman in the picture looks to be substantially taller than that. He was mainly a RB/DB.
I'm 5'3. My boyfriend is 6'3 and is exactly a head taller
I'm wondering if the terminology of "wide receiver" is complicating matters, like how he identified then/how he was used versus how WRs are identified now.
The term WR does make it harder. Hard to tell exactly how tall he is from the picture, but at least 6'3". That would not help much with today's players, but an end (or any player) that tall wasn't common in 1962. We may have narrowed it down a bit.
Hey @PhillyGirl this is a lot of fun. I will keep looking, but I believe your last picture is on target. There is just not a lot of internet data from that era.
See I'm wondering if he WAS originally from NY but moved down for scholarship opportunities/offers. It wasn't unheard of then for a guy to move to play for a high school close by/in-state to a school who wanted him.
@PhillyGirl mentioned it earlier in the thread, perhaps he was born in Buffalo but moved to somewhere prior to enrollment skewing the hometown information. An example would be he could be born in Buffalo, but his parents moved to Alabama when he was 7 years old.
